HEY! Cheap PDX games: https://paradoxinteractive.i38e.net/A...
Why do I do these things? The 1939 start date is truly painful, and Japan is no different - no tanks, crap airforce, and ALL of China bearing down on you. Can I win as Japan in 1939 HOI4?

In the regular 1936 start, when the Chinese United Front forms, China gets a national spirit called "Chinese Unity" which increases their surrender limit by 15%, making them extremely difficult to capitulate. In the 1939 start for some reason, the national spirit is absent so they have the regular surrender limit.

It’s pretty miserable that the pacific has gone basically untouched the entire lifespan of the game. Literally the last axis power standing and they get a focus tree smaller than Chile.

Thank god that there might be a pacific war update. Japan really needs a rework!

Great video, I've noticed that the main reason the Axis always does better in the 1939 start date is mainly because the allied divisions are either 50% strength or they have outdated equipment, while Axis has pretty much always 80 - 90% divisional strength while also having them equipped with the newest equipment possible

Funny story about that cursed Hirohito neck meme... I think I may have been the one to cause that. Several years ago a modder got on reddit, or it was Steam Discussions (can't remember) and said "What's a simple mod you want me to do?"

I said that he should mod the game where every single time you click "Escalate War in China" Hirohito's neck gets one more gold ring.

Well, the guy made it and... Here we are.

I'm not saying nobody else had the idea, but if my suspicion is correct I very well could have been the dumbass to spawn the idea of... that... into this world.

Can't believe it's 7, almost 8, years since Japan had its last rework. Japan and China are probably the final trees from the old era. Hopefully america will also get a rework soon, since it's tree is also teetering on the edge of the old and new eras.

the reason ship building is at the top is actually historical
lines at the top get resources first and Japan at the time had big navy dominance so navy got priority on resources

My Japan Pro-Tip, you can build 3 superheavy battleships and have them ready before 1941. they have enough range my themselves to get to hawaii and to get from hawaii to california!!
just split them off and get that naval invasion in

If you want a challenge (pain) play 1939 Yugoslavia

@ovca410 1 year ago

3:10 You should really try to pre-assign the MIOs by shift clicking on the upgrades you want to have. I know, you forget, but at least try it. It always saves me a ton of time

pearl harbour should be a strike mission using the new system. so that like the US can repell it and japan gets a debuff for a bit, and if the US fails they get a small debuff for a bit

I was about to say, "Why dose this sound familiar?" Oh, I watched it on patreon. " On well, I'll watch it again and give a like!

5:39 one time I did ignore the US response to the Panay incident because I didn't want to lose 100 political power. The AI got the war goal and didn't use it for some reason

When I played Japan, II didn't agree to the terms for the pine incident and America had the world on me, but they never declared on me. I just want to say

Two days ago I did a literal tank only challenge as japan, no mobile/mech infantry and I only had 1 factory on guns for colab governments. I built 9 block light tanks with good armor and 1 medium AA then push divs were 12 block mediums with 2 medium AA tanks Fuel was an issue but manageable. They pushed really well (mediums) I set the armor up so neither the lights or mediums could be pierced at all. HP was an issue so field hospitals, logi, and maintenance companies were required.
