I trade options, but I pick a company that is making money, has free cash flow, and dont mind owning if I get assigned. No rolling. I SELL Cash secured PUTS AFTER a sell off when premiums are high. I only sell at a DELTA of -0.1'ish and 30 to 40 days out in time. Theta curve accellerates at 30 days. I have made $52,500 this year in the first 6 months on a $730,000 account. Stock selection is crucial. If assigned, wait until stock goes back up 2-5%, THEN write covered calls at delta of 0.3 and again 30 days out. If called away, then you close the wheel. 90% of the time I just collect the CSP premium and do it again. BTW 1 or 2 contracts max. It's boring, but the math is on my side. MU is a good candidate with recent sell off.

The other thing you could mention is that with a cash account you are still collecting interest from the brokerage company while it is committed to the PUT.

I've been selling cash covered puts for the last 5 years and I can say, it is absolutely the way to trade. Do it only around a stock you would not mind having put to you but I try to avoid that as well. If it is put to me, then I turn around and sell a covered call on it.

Lee is right that you have to always read the charts. I stick to a certain area that I like only so I know the stock. Ex. I never touch pharm, medical, stocks to name a few. Also, if you have a smaller account and want to sell this put then add a buy put (Put Spread) to limit your loss and your funds being tied up. Selling just the put is better because you own 100 shares and if it goes up 10.00 down the road on this example then you made 1000.00. Until that happens, You have this stock as part of your portfolio which you know will go up.

When selling options, I tell people I am selling time. The vehicle are stocks. Specializing in selling weekly (5 to 7 days) options adding the wheel, rolling, strangle strategies to enhance my trading.
My track record is 90% of the options I sell expired worthless. Using options selling and buying stocks I agree to. I also trade in 3x ETFs in inverse indexes and sectors as insurance to cover some losses during the market downturns. I do not trade margin.

I started selling puts around 2020 and it works quite well for me I don't know that I follow his method but what I do is watch for stocks that have either taken a big drop that are quality stocks in my opinion and sell puts at a 10% Delta and the other thing I do is watch for socks that run up a ton and then sell puts on them again at a 10% Delta if I really like the stock and want to own it possibly then I may use a 20% Delta start small like I did and as you get more comfortable than what you're doing you can increase it it works well but you have to pay attention as you go along
