THIS WEEK AT THE RISING – (October 11, 2026)
Last Sunday, the Holy Spirit declared war on the enemy’s weapons and the church’s weakness through His message titled: The Social Responsibility! The first point of the Spirit’s message was for us to get off the BENCH and get in the game! Peter was so blessed on the mountain, in Christ’s transfigured presence, that he wanted to build three shelters there. But that would keep Jesus and the disciples from going back to the valley where they were needed.
Meanwhile, in the valley, the other nine disciples were an absolute BUST! They failed to do the very thing Jesus gave them power, provision, and purpose to do, all because they failed to pray. Those chose to argue with lawyers instead. This led to extreme frustration by Jesus and extreme despair by the father of a boy possessed by a demon since childhood. That boy suffered greatly and the disciples had the power to fix it, but not the discipline to pray first to release that power. Though they were not on the mountain with Jesus, they failed to have the little bit of faith that brings the Mountain of transfiguration to them.
Ultimately, we are saved by the BEST. Jesus is the Best! He demolished the demon and then lifted the boy who looked dead after the harrowing ordeal. He also kept the 12 Disciples involved in service to the suffering by having them bring Him the boy. Praise God for having Jesus lift us with His Hands!
Looking ahead to this Sunday, we’ll take on a topic that often goes unnoticed in a very familiar text. Sunday’s message is titled:
Confession: The Pride Antidote
When people think of David and Bathsheba, they often think David struggled with lust. Lust is often the “sexier” topic for believers to focus on when it comes to leaders who fail and fall. However, below the surface of the lust is something far more secret and sinister: Pride! While “sex” gets all the headlines in church gossip, pride goes unchallenged and unchecked. To learn more about the antidote that helps cure the poison of pride, please join us this Sunday and be sure to bring some friends too!
