I remember citing Citizens on some minor detail when I was writing my MA thesis.

However, a book I recall finding really useful then was an anthology of essays called The Origins of the French Revolution, I think from Routledge, that had a great deal of more obscure information in it.

Nice job! I'm glad I found your channel!

I'm probably at around 10% in Citizens. It's a tougher read for me, but very rewarding so far!

This was so much fun. Maybe Hollywood Wives by Jackie Collins could be a lovely read after Nixon and Mao!

The best TV series ever will be a really good one about the Revolution.

It may feature inumerable characters from kings to anonymous people at the time (Charlotte Corday or a  very young Bonaparte, for example), the turnarounds will be constant, deaths will be plenty and sudden (the way HBO prefers), there's possibility of showing artists (David), scientists ( Lavoisier), philosophers (Condorcet), a lot of intrigue (Mirabeau's letters or the relationship between Barnave and the Queen, inumerous sinister characters like Marat , Couthon or Billaud-Varenne, there will be the "survivors" and their adventures (Fouché or Talleyrand), romance ( Desmoulins couple),  it could include different locations like England, USA and Haiti,  and hopefully could show the revolution as a breath-taking sequence of quick experiments  in many kinds of governments ( Absolutism, constitutional monarchy, dictatorship, anarchy,  aristocratic reaction and finally cesarism).

Could easily beat Sopranos.

Yay I'm so glad you loved Citizens!!! And I felt the same way, it got me wanting to read a ton more stuff! I'm reading Russia at War 1941-1945 by Alexander Werth and just finished a 9/11 memoir. All very devastating reads. LOL

I'm currently reading Citizens (p596 just over halfway) and Missoula by Jon Krakauer. I'm looking forward to something light and fluffy like Bringing Up the Bodies 😂.

That was a good mix!

I finished Stripping of the Altars the other day and will finish a Civil War book today. Then I  have to finish  Notre-dame de Paris aka The Hunchback.  This month I should finish 1776 and hopefully squeeze in a short book on Henry VIII. I promised my family I would read Lord of the Rings this month and I  need a mad monarch to get me through it.  😂
