This is my first time ever listening to Lover by Taylor Swift! This is the last album on my Deep Dive list for now and it feels bittersweet, but I couldn't be happier to have become a full on Swiftie during this journey. As always, please let me know your favorite songs and help me breakdown the lyrics :)

the song “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” is a political metaphor about disillusionment with the sociopolitical climate of the United States after the 2016 elections; it uses high school slang to reflect the loss of faith

you should definitely listen to All of the Girls You loved before, which is a song from this album that did not make the cut, and it's one of the best of this era actually

“When everyone believes you, what’s that like?” Crazy to write that after her sexual assault trial. One of my favorite lyrics she’s written.

the archer makes me cry every time i hear it, in fact, i'm crying right now. it's my favorite taylor song. for me, this song reflects what it's like to be prepared for something bad to happen, the anxiety of knowing that anything can happen when you least expect it. that's exactly what happens in the song, it never reaches its peak. that song is truly a hug for the heart 💗

Lover may not be Taylor's best album but it is definitely the most misunderstood one.
It's far deeper than people realize simply because it sounds all bright and looks pink and girly.

I will never forget when Taylor performed in Argentina with the Eras tour and when she sang The Archer, during the "who could stay" part, the fans did a fan action, holding up signs that said "we will stay," it was truly a very beautiful moment

Many people didn’t like the Archer because there was no “drop” in it. It’s about anxiety and self sabotage. Which is exactly how it makes you feel listening to it. In my opinion, it was brilliantly done.

In the prologue to the album Red, Taylor wrote that she realized true love was golden like starlight and that she might write an album about that kind of love if she ever found it; Daylight reflects a bit of what she mentioned in that prologue, which is why she mentions "burning red" in the lyrics.

It’s not a summer fling, it’s about the time when they first fell in love (the honeymoon stage of their relationship). Most of the songs on this album were written for Joe Alwyn, her ex-boyfriend. They were in a six-year relationship before eventually going their separate ways.

I’ve always thought False God after Soon You’ll Get Better was a wild choice
