Spitting image was at its best in the 80s with Maggie in power.

@LondonEve24 11 months ago

They’re not making fun of Kirk's murder, but at the spectacle of the memorial and Trump's behaviour.

British TV doesn't take prisoners.

It's NOT Trolling, it's satire. The UK has a long history of satire. Spitting Image was first on TV in the 1980s, and has won many awards over many years. It used to be on mainstream TV on a Sunday night and would cover all the main news stories of the previous week. In the 1980s some Members of Parliament were insulted if there wasn't a puppet depicting them even though it might have been a negative portrayal! Spitting Image does NOT just focus on the US anyone, anywhere could have a puppet made of them if they do something that needs satirising.
The bear is a satire of Paddington Bear.

Welcome to true Freedom of speech lol, if Spitting Image was in the US, Trump would have it cancelled immediately lol. Its saturical comedy. We rinse our own politicians, royal family and celebrities. No one is safe lol

Gio, you've been in Europe for several years now, but you still behave like a Yankee who has just taken his first step into the “real world”!
Americans always brag about their “'freedom of speech,” but in reality there is no freedom left there!
Welcome to the free world, my boy!!! 😉

@bassmit7 11 months ago

Do you realize most Europeans think reality in the USA is weirder than those shorts?

Spitting Image used to be on TV back in the 80s and 90s they then made a comeback a couple of years ago on Britbox (I think) I know it was during COVID and Trump's first term.

They slate British politics and movements to, in equal measure 😂

Welcome to British political satire! No punches pulled. 😂😂

@saturdayplayer2492 11 months ago

This is British satire. Doesn't take any prisoners.

@lynette. 11 months ago

This is what free speech really looks like.

Hiya , "spitting image," has been on television for years, albeit later in the evening, probably the most savage show on television in the UK , they say pretty much what they like , lawyers/ attorneys will have scrutinized the script very carefully , they were particularly savage with the late Prime minister Margret Thatcher.Some people who have appeared ask if they can their puppets when no longer used ,they could laugh about themselves ❤

You need to watch this with a Brit as you missed many of the jokes. Who's the daddy sketch - James Hewitt was a red head that HRH Princess Diana had an affair with (rumour at the time was that he is Harry's daddy). Also Spitting Image first started in 1984 (Reagan, Thatcher, Gorbachev etc). It ended in 1996 but has been brought back, in part because of the outrageous things that the Orange man is trumping (British slang for farting). Yep, it will be US political heavy! If you see any with Karoline Leavitt you will notice an orange stain around her mouth. Wonder how that got there? Hmmm.

British humour has always been brutal and unafraid to go there. Spitting Image carried us through the dark days of Margaret Thatcher and became obsolete with the regimes that followed (because those jokes told themselves). Come the hour... and here we are again and the worlds authoritarians need to be mocked mercilessly. Thankfully the internet and VPNs now mean these gems can reach the front lines directly to the oppressed people of the world. I have no doubt at all that the Donald would sue if he could so broadcasting in Europe might mean he has a tough road ahead. This is not journalism not even entertainment disguised as journalism (like Fox News) it is straight up mockery of the highest order, told for laughs and so far most European governments protect the performance arts (even the stuff they don't like).
