i like how youtube just randomly recommended this to me even though i have never watched anything related to dnd nor do i know anything about it

I wrote several scenarios for Dungeon. They were loooooong because the editors kept asking me to add stuff, which I cheerfully did, because I was paid by the word. But THIS is the way all adventures should be written. Very well done!

As a broke college person who loves dnd I thank you for the free content. I wish I could afford more.

Thank you so much for making this video. Being not only a new DM but being new to D&D I can't tell you how much I appreciate this sketch. I am definitely am no artist so it was nice to see someone with more design experience perform the craft. Again, thank you for making this kind of content and I'm excited to see more of this kind of thing!

"I am actually not yet the best at lettering and caligraphy..."

This is a common problem with "creating art" and humans. In the process of the creation, you can only see the errors you made. Others can't see them because they have no idea what you wanted it to look like. So we only see the good stuff you did, and this is very good in my opinion.

For those of you who also struggle with self complaining. If you create something, take a "step back", put it away for a day or two and than reevaluate it. Then you can see the beauty.

Thanks for your videos.

I love this so much, because you're not just focused on making a fun and exciting short adventure, you're also putting time and effort into making it look cool and sorta classic RPG style mini adventure. Honestly I'm inspired to give it a try, even if it just means my sketchbook gets a really cool piece, but never gets run.

Suggestion: set time-lapses of your drawings to music, and tag them as geek relaxation.

Hey Esper, long time fan. Just wanted to chime in here and say how much I liked this video. I think this type of video would make a great series, especially because they could double as patreon freebies/teasers.
One of my favorite parts of your channel is the depth and soul you bring to otherwise generic D&D content, and small one-page adventures like these are a great palatable way for your audience to add in some of your creativity into their own campaigns! Hope to see more

When making this myself I need to remember that I have literally 1/10th the artistic skill that you do and be kind to myself. This map looks amazing!

Back in the early 70's when I was in middle school my friend and I would draw single page adventures depicting people having to traverse cave systems while avoid all kinds of obstacles.lasers and other funny things.  My old friend recently told me he still had the drawings.

I've always liked the one page adventure idea. Perfect for one-shots or when your players go running off where you didn't expect.

As a former draftsman, I really appreciate your penmanship.  Top drawer!

Back in 87, my middle school best friend and I use to make these. But we didn't even know what D & D was the whole time. We just made maps with traps, lazers, etc. But the way we played them was, we took a pencil, holding it upright with our index finger and the tip of the lead touch the paper. We had to tilt our hand toward the paper and try to make a controlled straight line. That was how we got from one place, to the next. We got more elaborate with it by stipulating how many lines we would get to get through a hallway etc. It was fun.

I used to make stuff like this in the 80s.  I’d pull them out in the cafeteria and have my friends play them.  Was as fun making them as letting my friends play them.  I used to use slips of paper to cover the rooms.

I used to make maps on single pages of paper with puzzles occurring in a town or dungeon as a kid, mainly for my friends to solve, all before I knew what D&D even was. It was my way of creating a roleplaying game without the knowledge of programming one on the computer. It felt immersive.

Great to see YT recommending this great video!

When I was running AD&D 1e for my friends last year I was using a self template for side adventures. In short I limited my dungeons and adventures to 1 sheet of college ruled paper and a half sheet of graph paper. It ended up being a happy medium for me, more detail than you can fit all on one sheet but the small area of half a sheet of graph paper made me not waste room or time with pointless encounters and minutia. These mini-adventures were some of the tightest adventures I came up with and ran IMO.

“Now let’s just pause that”
Me: Ok pauses video

Great video, my wife and I were both commenting on how much we loved your hatching around the walls. Thanks for sharing!

Yt recommended this for some reason but I just LOVE your map! It's so cute and awesome at the same time!!
