As I got old, my vision was affected by astigmatism. I traded my Aimpoints for Eotechs. I like both, but the difference in projection means that I can see the Eotech reticle without the distortion associated with astigmatism.

I just bought an Eotech and if this video doesn't validate my purchase, what is the point of living?

Goes back to the concept, train with what ya got. Doesn't matter what brand or type as long as it's reliable and you do something other than show it to your buddies.

I prefer an Eotech because the dot is much clearer with my astigmatism.

Eotech. Because I love night vision shooting. I also like the exps3-4 for long distance shooting. I have one aimpoint on an m-14 and trying to shoot out past 3-400 yards is quite a bit harder. With my eotech 4-dot bdc I can easily hit 10” plates out to 500 yds and can hit out to 600 tho I haven’t practiced as much at 600.
Battery life doesn’t phase me as the eotech lasts over 1000 hours and I tend to change all my batteries in my optics one a year anyway so I’ve never had an eotech battery go bad since I’ve started this practice..
I had a Trijicon MRO but sold it because the parallax was noticeably bad. Was bummed about that as I love the RMR and acog.
As to which is faster, I’ve noticed that the weight of the gun has more impact on speed than the optic.

Aimpoint is a good general set and forget option. Holosun+.
EOTech is for when you know that you want it. Competition. Night vision. Magnifier. Astigmatism.

Back in the day I picked Eotech 512s over Aimpoint M2s because of cost on our SWAT team. We called them the “donut of death” and trained on them extensively and it worked for us. That was almost 25 years ago.

The more I took the rifle into the woods around the ranch, the more I wanted a larger optic window.

Aimpoint. I once had to defend myself with an EOtech, and I forgot to turn it on. That split second of frustration almost made me cry.

Aimpoint makes excellent products

I have both brands and they're both excellent optics. At the end of the day, they're just reference points for aiming. Train with them and become efficient.

I'm primarily Aimpoint on the majority of my red dot setups.  However, I did recently change to an EXPS2 w/DCR for my patrol duty rifle.  The main reason is I run the Unity riser (originally with a Comp M5) and I switched for 'headshot' off set up close.  I never had an issue making the shot with lower 1/3, but when trying to make a very accurate shot up close with the added offset of the Unity, I was just a tad slower.  Yes, training will eventually overcome that, but most of my trigger time is with lower 1/3 so those mechanics are my current 'baseline'.  The added offset of the Unity can make a difference up close.  With the DCR reticle, don't even have to think about it as there is a reference aiming point, not just a free hold....I found myself faster with it.  For a duty situation, I changed as it was more intuitive without having to do "the math'.  That's just me.  I absolutely love my Aimpoints, but I also like the DCR reticle from Eotech.  So many good options now a days, but nothing is perfect.  I've even had to send a Comp M5 back due to excessive battery drain, so it can happen to the best of them...

All I can say is I have never had a problem with my aimpoints I have had several problems with my eotechs.i still run my aimpoints comp m2 I had 24 years on my carry handle m4 ive bought in the year 2000.

I started with what I could afford, Holosun and Sig Romeo, but thought I'd upgrade to a Trijicon MRO and Vortex UH-1. The UH-1 battery is always dead when I take that rifle out of the safe, even though it's off...and the dot on the MRO is not as crisp as the Sig or Holosun...should have stayed where I was 😂

Back in the day those were the only two serious options.   I still have the ones I invested in, and the Aimpoint Comp series is what's on my go-to SHFT AR.   That said, in the last 15 years since and many guns later, I've somehow only purchased Vortex red dots.  They're sufficient for my recreational needs and are always available at good prices when I'm looking for another RDS for another gun.

I've been Eotech fan for 20 years . I'm not saying batt life is over rated but my EXPS3 gas the same cr123 for 30 months . I shoot multiple matches monthly . My EXPS3 is on for about 24 hours monthly.  My EXPS3 was made in 2017. I have another one made in 2013 and its 100% gtg..
MICRO 3x MAGNIFIER paired with EXPS3 or EXPS2-2 is freaking tits 450Y and in

Nice to see Henry again, remember him from a video , testing Swedish 6,5x55 rifle ammo and ssg 3000.    I'm a Swedish guy hunting with that caliber and so satisfied with it.

9H on MidwayUSA, let’s go!

Holographic sights shine when the sun is at your back. Many red dots have issues with double dots and flaring at certain times of day.

For magnification I like EOTech.

I dont  have one yet, but for my HD rifle  want an Aimpoint so I can just keep it on all the time. Right now I have Holosun
