I owned the SVS ultra center for about 2 years and never was happy with it. Sold it and bought a B&W HTM71 S2 and am really pleased with it. Better mid-range, more base and more dynamic range.
I have the prime center, with prime towers front stage and prime satellites for surrounds and atmos duties, with a 12" SVS pb 2000 subwoofer in a 5.1.2 set up. I brought mine over 9 years ago, they look and sound as good as when I first brought them over 9 years ago when the prime series was released. Great sounding bullet proof speakers.
I own the Ultra Center and have been waiting for a side by side comparison. The Ultra center has exceeded my expectations. It's worth every penny I paid for it. Thank you.
I'm upgrading my 20+ year old Polk system to SVS Primes. I've heard lots of good things from reviewers about the line so I'm super excited to test them out.
I have the prime pinnacles and the prime center, I have debated on the ultra evolution center but I cant quite justify it as you said the prime center is pretty good. Instead I am thinking up upgrading my side surrounds to prime bookshelfs and putting the satellites (my current side surrounds) as rear surrounds (which I currently have none)
I noticed on SVS speakers and subwoofers, black wood grain vinyl wrap you can see the join of the vinyl wrap, on the underneath, no other manufacturer does that, so bit naff
I just bought the prime. Would have loved the ultra but they just keep putting up the price and now priced me out the market. My prime should be here by Friday or Monday nek week. Besides the ultra mite be better yes but not that much better for the price. I’m sure I’ll be happy with my prime.
Everyone seems to say the ultra sounds better but to my ears the prime sounds better. The Prime seems brighter and thus clearer to my ears. For some reason the ultras with the deeper bass makes things sound more muddy to me 🤷🏼♂️
