Enjoyable video. Surprises me how simple rigs etc produce the goods on so many occasions. I try and keep things simple when I fish and only really use my own tied rigs. Many thanks for the video.

Glad to hear it Andrew, enjoy your trip & tight lines.

Hi Dodgers

That's good to hear!!

Thanks for giving me just one more reason to visit Ireland

Thanks  for this - I have just got into fishing, I live on the South Wales coast and we have a lot of Bristol Channel shoreline , I know from speaking to others that Dogfish (lesser spotted) are very common,  to the point where anglers are fed up of catching them. I would be very happy if I caught anything so a nice sized dogfish would make my day!

There's a shingle beach in my area that is really common for dogfish and the other fish they are all after is the Rays, which are also common there.

I went for the first time yesterday, I bought a 3m beachcaster and reel for quite cheap, and we were fishing out on a rocky lighthouse pier called Jacksons Bay in Barry, had a good day but didn't catch anything, we wanted to use Ragworm but local angling shops didnt have any so we got some mackerel and squid instead - first cast in and my mate drops the knife right down into the rocks.....it wasn't a pretty experience from there on trying to cut bait with a pair of pliers! but I learnt a lot and will be much more prepared next time.

Anyway watching your video and seeing you catch a few gave me a bit of hope, i can' t wait to get back out there now!

bored of mackerel tink ill try this other side of the lough in bangor

Hi therealalexaroo,  i will keep this in mind for future.

looks like a lot of fun! keep the videos coming!

Thanks for tips the mate going sea fishing in galway and this video gave me all the information i need

The thing with dogfish is you can really feel their strength when you unhook them.  There's a lot of power in those little bodies.

Good vid mate. Just discovered your channel. Great stuff.

Nice vid guys

Hi Karateman,

You should use anything from a 2oz weight upwards depending on the strength of the tide.

Hope this helps..

Tight lines.

nice video man

Eyo! This is in Whitehead! I can hear the train and all. I'm going dog fishing soon so thanks for the tips

Great video! enjoyed watching, must be a pretty rocky mark as those are some of the darkest in colour dogfish i have ever seen!

I cought one that took up the space between 2 pillars on a peir

Once my dad caught a bull huss wich was abpout a meter

Anyone could help me out, do dogfish bite in a salty river that goes out to sea? Or are they just in sea?
