Fun Fact: The voices chanting “Poseidon, Poseidon, Poseidon” and singing “Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” after Poseidon does, are meant to be the Laestrygonians. A race of cannibal giants who are all direct children of Poseidon. In the actual Odyssey, they kill Ody’s crew by throwing rocks at them while their ships are trap in a harbor, only Ody’s ship could escape. So, in Epic, Poseidon is there commanding the Laestrygonians to kill them.

Even a story that is literally thousands of years old can be remade to appeal to modern audiences, and this project is a prime example.

I noticed that in the first song he says “do what I say and you’ll see them again” but in throughout the sagas they didn’t listen and they died

In case no one has said, the voice of Anticlea (Odysseus's mom in the underworld) is Jorge's mom in real life! It hurts but it's so beautiful

59:39 I love the fact that Telemachus’ voice is so faded and soft because Odysseus doesn’t know what he’s son’s voice sounds like so he can’t clearly hear his son😭😭🤧

18:14 I’m so glad you mentioned the guitar because Jorge literally explains that every character has a certain instrument and Odysseus is the guitar (nylon and electric).

Yay!!!
So a few fun facts.
Jorge started creating this when he was 20 years old, finished at almost 27. He's the song writer and wears a lot of hats here, and also voices Odysseus.
He met his girlfriend (Circe's voice actress) through Epic after she auditioned for Penelope and Zeus and got the role for Circe, then they started dating and have been together for 2 years now. He released the Circe Saga (his girlfriend's saga) on Valentine's Day which is such a nice move on his part lol.
Also, every character has an instrument. Odysseus has the guitars, Athena has the piano, and so on

I love that Poseidon says “it isn’t very often that I get pissed off” Greek mythology fans know that’s a freaking lie he does a lot of things to heroes in the myths

Fun fact! Odysseus isn't just LIKE a brother to Eurylochus, Eury is married to Ody's sister- they're literally brothers in law :D

23:51 "So far I feel like every song is a therapy session"

Yep.. and in a few minutes the cyclops saga will require one.

47:56 this hits harder if you know that in mythology, the person Athena arguably loved the most was her best friend Pallas, and she died by accident by her own hands.

I think we, the epic community watch alot of reaction vids cus it feels like we got an enthusiastic friend thats geeking out on the album

Also, Hermes with the "Holy Moly" joke. I feel like not enough people actually get it! In the original Oddysey, Hermes gives Odysseus a root that nullifies Circe's powers. That root is actually from the Moly plant. Hence "Holy Moly"!

Oh my god, seeing you be like "YEAH! WHOOH!" to the end of "Remember them" made me realise that the music is intended to get you carried along by Odysseus's pace not realising that he is making an absolutely colossal mistake.

Something interesting about Odysseus is he never wanted to go to war. He was honor bound to participate. He tried to pretend like he was losing his mind, like he didn't know how to do anything so he wouldn't need to go. He was plowing fields incorrectly to 'prove' he was going mad so Palamedes put Telemachus in the field to see if Odysseus was 'crazy enough' to keep going which would kill his son. Since he stopped the plow that showed he was competent and they forced him to go to war along side them.

The underworld saga came out when I was pregnant with my son. So yes I was a pregnant woman sobbing at 5 am in the morning at that “waiting” 😭

14:22 He actually does drop the baby!  I believe Gigi (the animator for the first two animations) made a new version where it shows Odysseus’s hand letting go, though I’m unsure

The worst thing about his mom? She died of grief after they saw his fleet approach Ithica only to get blown away by Poseidons storm. She assumed the entire fleet was lost and that killed her. He was so close to home that he could practically touch land.

The way her face matched Odys when Polities got killed  😭

WINIONS! WE GOT ANOTHER ONE!!
