At times the film did feel a little out of place with a little action, a few wisecracks and a few thriller seeking moments it was as if the film was trying to be something of a fusion.
Maybe they should have focused spending more screen time with Murphy & Rapaport building up chemistry as opposed to Murphy being with his on and off again relationship.
The killer may have been caught too early in the piece so yes there were a few plot holes but at least Eddie Murphy showed more drama in his character who had real hard hitting and confronting issues to deal with.
It should have been a success and could well have been had it been released in 1998.
