My mother stood on the promenade in Blackpool during the War and saw a red glow over Liverpool during bombing. Sad times but people must have been very scared..thanks for showing me this..I think in years gone by working class people generally took pride in their streets etc it seems that nowadays people have little pride in the state of their streets

Can i put in a good word for the people of Kensington. My father was born and bred off Earle Rd (Freeman Street) and upto two years ago, I still had family who lived there.
My elderly uncle fell one night and broke his hip. As I was the contact number, I was called to keep him company until the ambulance arrived. From 1am until 8.30 am I waited with him with the front door open. I had no problems at all. The only people who came near were neighbours,  worried about his door being open.
My uncle ended up being in hospital for months and during this time, his neighbours kept an eye on his house and even kept his garden tidy, cutting his grass etc while he was away. Some even took time out of their day to trek up to Fazakerley hospital to visit him regularly ( not cheap when you put in the car parking fees.) There is still a lovely community in some areas of Kensington.

Excellent video, it’s really sad to see the demise of a once lovely area. You’re kidding about the new hospital having more beds, there’s considerably fewer beds. The only reason it’s all single patient rooms and no wards is because it was built for privatisation, not that they’ll ever admit it.

Those magnificent old houses on Deane Road should be housing decent hard working families…NOT ALIEN PEOPLE LIVING 10 to A ROOM …ultimately Desroying, and Disrespecting the properties!…But this is England today…🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
