Considering that it spent a lot of its life on a beach, it looks a lot better than I expected.

'Recently retired in the early 90's'. So more than 30 years ago? Man we're getting old . . .

When Churchill said "We shall fight them on the beaches...", I don't think he had beach huts in mind 😅😅

Imagine the bloke who welded that sitting at home watching Mr Hewes threatening to punch him🤔🤣

The lack of rust with that much salty beach sand packed into corners is rather amazing.

I do like a feature length episode :)

Terrible decisions make the best content.

You're a good man cameraman for not letting Ted's stick get run over Thank you for kicking it out of the way

Honestly anything with WW2 machinery and involving a certain Mr Hewes is going to be AWESOME!

I have been with the channel for some time . I am saying that you all are the best group of guys on YouTube doing this stuff . In my eyes you all are taking something in history that was horrible and turning it around and maybe even teaching some stuff to a younger group of people. I say that . Not do to the recent things going on . I was in a diesel mechanic school in the 1980s and we had girls in the class back then . They did very well . In the US we do have the opportunity to work on world war vehicles . Well most of the US stuff was left behind or sold off . It is so nice to see old iron being brought back to life . If only to play with . We just never really grow up .

Ex UK Fork Truck engineer here. A lot of US made fork lifts had the same half shaft setup,  for future use, remove the nuts then get your big hammer (nice sized lump hammer)and really smack the face of the halfshaft in the centre of it, this normally makes the taper collets jump of the stud in fright!!!!! .Sometimes the collet grips the thread on the stud and you have to twiddle them off.  Always worked for me. Hyster and Caterpillar  F/T use this idea.

My guess would be someone snapped off a front wheel stud and just replaced a lefty with a righty.

This will make a fine half track. You pared it down to the bones and they look good. Your Scout Car expert, well...  The mirror thing is a mess. Scout cars and Halftracks did not come with side mirrors. There were added to some later, but with bolt on parts. I cant post pics here. The round thing behind the booster is the trailer brake controller. If you look closer you will see the rod hooks to the brake, not the clutch. There is also a rheostat on the dash to fine adjust that brake. I beleive you will find those nuts holding the front sprockets on are the same as the Dodge 1/2 and 3/4 ton WW2 vehicle lug nuts.

I wish Jack would wear eye protection when spraying, and a mask when grinding. You only get one pair of eyes, and damage is usually permanent.

That induction heater is defo tool of the week

Respect for not giving up, this is pure patience test!

You could call it 'Uphill Struggle' and I would buy  a tee shirt with its image on and 'How hard can it be?' written underneath. Cracking video chaps.

4:16, Joe, I have an idea for you! You must've seen the expensive watches that have bits of aluminum from a WW-II Fighter plane that's being restored? Well, you could take the original armor plates and plasma cut them into small pieces and sell them for a reasonable price to anyone whose interested in owning a piece of a WW-II American Halftrack?

If you're complaining about the half-track, try working on the entire generation of Yank vehicles after WWII...that was the same rear brake setup for about every single one.  The only difference is that later on there was an adjuster at the bottom instead of a solid mount.  So glad I have only discs on the rear of my vehicles now.  I was also laughing at the language used for previous owners of the half-track.  How many times have I uttered the very same things about project vehicles I've worked on....

There is indeed a left hand wheel nut and a right hand wheel nut, but as Low Buck Garage found out, someone in the past might have put the left hand hub on the right hand side :D
