Los 10 Pueblos de Querétaro Donde NUNCA Deberías Jubilarte (Aunque Sean Preciosos)

Querétaro por Dentro

In Arroyo Seco, in the Sierra Gorda region of Querétaro, one in six residents is 60 years old or older: more than one and a half times the state average (INEGI, 2020 Census). The towns with the largest aging populations are also the hardest to grow old in. In this video, we explore ten beautiful towns in the mountains and semi-desert, asking a question that lists of "cheap and peaceful towns to retire in" never ask: what if you get sick at 2:00 a.m.?

For each town, we examine its reputation, the statistics, the nearest hospital, the potential pitfalls, and our verdict. And we do the math: the pension for senior citizens, around 3,200 pesos a month, falls short of the INEGI rural poverty line (3,515 pesos in August 2026).

None of this is against the people who live there: these are places worth visiting. The problem is the distances, the services, and the weather.
