Body positivity was always about accepting yourself. It started getting weird when people were out here saying it was fine to be obese or even now, really skinny..

If I remember correctly, the body positivity movement actually started for people with scars and visual disabilities before it move to what it is now

I'm 57..... i don't remember different body trends changing so fast!!! I'm getting whiplash. At this point in my life i just want to be able to pick things up and to touch my toes. 🤭 I'm outta this game!

Im 67, 5'7" and 200lbs. People think i weigh around 130-140lbs. I'm solid, muscular, big boned, flat abs. I don't tell people my weight, especially men. I trained in the Marines for 22 years. Physicians said i have the bone density and muscle density of a man, not very flattering, because of all that training. I work out and hike five days a week. I hope muscular comes into fashion. It's way better than the other two options. Lol

Body positivity isn't gone. Body positivity is still here. But people don't want to accept that being obese is hard on the joints and hard in general. And I'm currently obese working on my weight. For me, body positivity means I love myself and love my body so much that I'm willing to lose weight for a better future. Body positivity was hijacked by the fat positivity movement. Body positivity means loving yourself where you are currently. That could mean being obese, being skinny, having a deformity, getting injured and now that injury is seen due to a cosmetic flaw, etc. Body positivity shouldn't have just focused on weight.

Girls after a certain age you just dont care anymore and it is the most freeing feeling in the world. It took me to reach the age of 57 to get to this point, I truly regret all the years I waisted trying to be perfect and pleasing to the eye in our society.

In my teens and early 20’s I thought I was fat, but I wasn’t. Now in my early 50’s I look back at pictures and wish I was that thin now.

Growing up my tiny Korean mom used to tell me I’d “never be petite.” I definitely take after my dad, I was taller and bigger then my mom in middle school. I don’t stress about being bigger as much as I used to, but that comment still floats around in my head.

You won’t find many people over 35 really subscribing to the body positive movement. Why? Bc at around that age the health issues start showing up- esp diabetes. Then reality sets in and it becomes clear that health isn’t supported by unrestrained eating and body size.

Body styles have unfortunately ALWAYS been trends. From the beginning of time there’s always been an “ideal body” that switched up every couples of years. Be healthy and love yourself, someone will always try to say something about you/how you look - love yourself and it won’t matter

Those idiots coming for Lizzo are delusional. Body positivity is one thing. But glorifying people who are a hundred plus pounds overweight is INSANE! They arent healthy preiod full stop. And those coming after extremely obese women losing weight were only looking for an excuse to stay obese. As a woman who has battled her weight ALL HER LIFE, i speak from experience. I can't stand this ultra skinny shit now either. That's equally unhealthy and should not be glorified either.
