Across politics, psychology, technology, education, identity, and even our understanding of ourselves, something at a deeper level feels structurally unstable.
This essay explores a different way of understanding that instability.
Rather than asking whether Physicalism is true or false, it asks a different question:
What kind of culture emerges when a particular metaphysical framework becomes so familiar that it is no longer recognised as philosophy at all?
Through a historical and philosophical genealogy, Within Physicalism explores how metaphysical assumptions can become embedded within institutions before gradually becoming the invisible background of everyday life.
This is not an argument against science.
Nor is it an attempt to persuade viewers to adopt a different metaphysical worldview.
Instead, it is an invitation to examine the often-overlooked relationship between metaphysics, institutions, and culture—and to ask what happens when a civilisation begins to experience one particular metaphysical framework simply as "reality."
Part II continues this journey by exploring how these assumptions may find expression throughout our understanding of the individual, nature, meaning, economics, technology, politics, and culture itself.
