Not getting Native American DNA doesnāt mean you donāt have Native American ancestors. Check your updates when they come out. My Indigenous DNA showed up 3 years after I took the test with Ancestry; however, I took my DNA raw data to GEDmatch and it showed up then. Remember: AncestryDNA doesnāt test your entire genetics. They only pull a small autosomal sequence. FTDNA tests your entire DNA. It costs a good penny but you will get your full genetic makeup. Also, keep in mind that DNA results are based on the collective of everyone DNA sample that particular company in their database so your results will be a little different with every company you test with. There are other companies who pull your complete makeup but itāll cost a few hundred dollars or even more.
I like that she tries to fathom the background of a hitherto opaque family story and to learn the whole story. - 35:53 - 36:18 "Wait, there is a river in the story?" [...] 36:48 - 37:00 "The prison isn't part of the family story, but apparently there is a river ... where I've been waiting for."
My great-grandfather died of typho-malaria at the prison in Alton, IL. He had been captured after the battle of Resaca, GA, along with his cousin. His cousin was able to return home to tell the family what had happened to my great-grandfather.
There are two towns (villages) called Biel in Slovakia (a part of Austro-hungarian Empire in 19th cent.) that I know of. One, called Biel is in the very far eastern part of the country, right on the border with Hungary, and also very close to today Ukraine. The other one is called Veľký Biel ("Big" Biel) and is some 15 kms east from Slovak“s capital city Bratislava. The word "biel" is derived from "biely" stands for white in Slovak. If her ancestors“ name was back then Slavic (Biel) and not Hungarian and the fact they were registered in Slovak-written ŽidovskÔ matrika (Jewish register), I believe they could have been consider of Slovak nationality and citizens of Austro-hungarian Empire. Many of these people could speak Slovak as well Hungarian. Chicago as their endpoint on their way is probably no coincidence either - Chicago held the largest community of Slovak immigrants. And most of them traveled through Hamburg.
