One of the great songs. Depressingly timeless

Nick Lowe wrote and recorded it in 1974. Elvis Costello had the hit in 1978 with his cover. Written 51 years ago... hits hard in 2025.

While Elvis didn't write it, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this tune.  The words REALLY got to me just now.  I'm about to burst into tears.  Has the answer ever been anything other than love and forgiveness?

A message that rings true today more than ever. The world needs more peace, love, and understanding. ☮️ ❤

The BEST Cover of Nick Lowe song ever. Powerful lyrics. Elvis has a reggae influenced song called “Watching The Detectives” I KNOW You’d enjoy.

Y’all should really dive into the band “Rockpile” with Dave Edmunds & Nick Lowe. Good Stuff.

Elvis Costello is married to Diana Kroll the jazz pianist and singer, alot of musical talent in that family

Thanks for continuing your journey with Elvis  Costello. There is no one else like him 👌🏻

Elvis Costello is revered in all of music

Elvis Costello is so underappreciated. He has an amazing body of work. Even collaborated writing songs with Paul McCartney.

This is a Nick Lowe song. One of my favorite pop tunes. Nick produced this album and song.

That drummer is working it!

Nothing has changed, this song could absolutely be made today. "It just makes me want to cry..." :hand-purple-blue-peace:

“What’s so funny about peace, love and understanding?” Have reminded myself of this hundreds of times in the 47 years since release

One of my favorites is Oliver’s Army

The message of this song is always needed in this world, for sure.

i had the privilege of seeing the great nick lowe back in the 80s in a club in houston and you can bet he did this song and he was great

GREAT SONG....

Awesome tune..best era of Elvis imo

Guys, this song came out in 1979, just imagine that, things haven’t changed

I don't know if I said it before, but Costello was always the top Elvis in my book.
