I have finished projects that I don’t really want and then donate them to charity. There will always be someone who would love to have hand made garments. ❤

I really love that you show that it takes time to do, I sometimes get so down on myself when i don't make the shirt or whatever in a weekend. I have to constantly remind myself that I want to enjoy what I make and do. so thank for that!!!!

For anyone who doesn’t have the space for a dye vat, I have a thrift store crock pot that has served me well for almost any dye project.

When I abandon a project, I try to harvest the notions and make tote bags or pouches with the largest pieces. It makes me feel less wasteful.

When I have unfinished projects that I don't want to finish, I either sell it cheaply on Facebook, donate it to a resell craft store or deconstruct it and make something else. I don't ever throw it away.

I live in a 75 unit apartment building. In one of the public rooms, I started a 'give and take' area. I now can go through household and clothing items and get them for free! I was thrilled to find your site, it's like having a sewing buddy as I remake my stash. I love enormous Big And Tall men's Ts and shirts, so much fabric can be made into cute dresses. I have trashed unfinished projects... though rarely. It can feel liberating. Economists call this "sunk cost."

I am dying of envy for your workroom! And I love the re-work results, particularly the splodgy top as an underlayer. Yes, I agree the fashion industry has lost its way (if ever it had one beyond profit). It's too disconnected from real women, real daily activities, real sustainability. I make all my own clothes now, and channels like yours help me to explore my own artistic side rather than mere function. And if the fabric doesn't compost I don't buy it.

I always use the legs from any pant/ Jean project to make tote / grocery bags for the church food bank.

Wow! Just love your week of projects. Great idea to cover buttons and love that you shared the process, I am gonna have to try that. Love the shirt you made for your husband. I am a quilter but also love sewing garments and somewhere along the way started reworking thrifted garments. Love all your energy and ideas. Thanks for taking us along!!! New subscriber here.
