This dlc cooked. Straghess feels like the ultimate combination of a lot of previous Souls bosses in terms of design and moveset. I didn’t think they’d top Heolstor but this is my favorite Nightreign boss now.
Te existence of this mass of gore and corpses really adds to the whole Elden Ring message that the general desire for revenge against those who wronged us, in the end just causes more violence and the doom of everyone around. The Hornsent tortured the Shamans, so Marika in retaliation sent Messmer to execute her revenge. The Hornsent then cursed Marika with the Omen Curse as an eternal reminder of what she has done. Then the Golden Order, under the guidance of Marika and Radagon (and by extension the Greater Will [or maybe Metyr ?]) subjugated a lot of races in the Lands Between. Which in the main game can end with the Tarnished deciding to embrace the Frenzied Flame and punish the world. And in Nightreign, Heolstor was precisely created by the wrath of one man who scentially represents every soul the Golden Order step on. And now, the Dreglord arises as an ulcerated horrible reminder of what pain the night and Heolstor caused. It's a cycle. The only way out is to forgive and move on.
Watching him take damage and not taking rest of the hits made me think, he’s not exactly learning the patterns, he’s just dodging timely with pure reflexes, truly talented skill.
Bro did you know that I have played a game with you in nightreign with my friend and thanks to you I have won my first game in nightreign since that day I follow you thank you so much I don’t now if you will understand what I try to tell you but keep going you are the goat ❤❤❤
Something that I really love about Nightreign is the NightLord boss mechanics. The scale of each NightLord is huge, doing things like changing the battlefield environment. The benefit of such huge areans is the spectacle they allow, albeit at the cost of environment design and mood.
