A miserable cycle of violence, hatred, and revenge.

Welcome back, The One Reborn Orphan of Manus

I absolutely love how all the empty sockets in its first form’s head all seem to begin trying to converge  into two in its second, a horrid blaze of unnatural life beginning to spark in its eyes as the lord slowly reshapes itself from mere resurrected detritus to a functional lifeform.

What I find incredibly fascinating about Straghess’ second form is how oddly natural it looks? Instead of being a mismatch of random body parts its body begins to somewhat form into its own shape; almost resembling the damaged skin of an ancient dragon. (Not to mention the cloak being made up of damaged dragon wings). It makes me think that Straghess summons the power of the remains of dragons, runebears, and other larger, stronger creatures than just men in desperation to defeat us. It grows in strength and ferocity but as a consequence it ends up behaving in the same animalistic, feral, and instinctual way that the fallen monsters do which grants it the title of “Pure Impulse Straghess”

I find it peculiar that the changes between forms are so impressive yet so subtle. Even the head/skull did had some form of symmetry only to be completely discarded in his second form. If you look at them from the distance you think: “Oh wait he didn’t change much.” Then you see it up close and you are like: “Ok this is completely different.”

HE EMBERS UP IN PURE IMPULSE!!!

DARK SOULS 3 CALLBACK

2:51 Everyone mentioning Orphan, Gael or Manus but... WELCOME BACK FLAMELURKER I HAVE BEEN MISSING YOU FOR YEARS

"Fooled by that toothy serpent, they upturned the grave of primeval man, and incited his ornery wrath.
What could they have been thinking?"

I still can’t get over how good the vocals at 1:48 are in his theme. They give me goosebumps even after listening to it in loop

I like to think that he is called Pure Impulse Straghess in his third phase because he is no longer “human.” He’s working off nothing but impulse, and that impulse is violence.

4:58 i think this makes a strong visual case for how Bayle the Dread came to exist:  the total union of living stone (Ancient Dragons) and living flesh became one utterly destructive being.

Not gonna lie i'm a little jealous about how creative fromsoft designs are
