Thanks, I love my M1 Carbine, a June '44 Inland in the 5.2Million range.  I was surprised you didn't show cleaning the dirtiest part of the rifle--the gas piston. Of course, to do that one needs the special three lobed wrench, a worthwhile purchase. I picked up a surplus one at a show years ago for under $10.  Fulton makes a nice one too.

A few months ago I bought a 43 Rock-Ola off a widow for $500 85% matching parts. It's the most accurate rifle I've ever shot total tack driver out to 150-200 yards, I remember back in the 70's a lot of my friends hunted deer with them seems like everybody had an M1 carbine back then I had the only Dad that bought a British 303 for hunting 😂 it was bigger and heavier than I was.

Love the m1 carbine mines a very low serial number in the 200k inland (General Motors) from 1943. It was my grandfather’s, I absolutely love the simplicity little things that just make sense like using the oil bottle to hold the sling in. My 14 year old son runs 2 gun and has ran it several times in pcc class his regular pcc is an AR 5.7 surprisingly his times with the m1 aren’t too far off from the 5.7 which runs a 50 round mag and all the modern for grip red dot stuff when using m2 mags they suffer quite a bit with the 15 round m1 mags. They are still absolutely effective and reliable and simply fun to use.

Excellent video on teardown.  Bought 3 MI Carbines in the early 1980s before the internet and had to use the official U.S. Army service manual as a guide.

I bought an Inland Mfg. re-import at a gun show in the '80s from an old timer walking around with it slung on his shoulder. Now I'm the old timer and; at the range, most of the guys shooting AR type guns always stop and check her out. I let 'em take a few shots if they want. It's fun. Other than an occasional stovepipe she runs like a top!!! LOL

I did not think I wanted one ... until I got one.  As you noted....most producer small arms.of WWII, so figured I should get one.  Obtained a Blue Sky import for $125 (yes a while ago).  Typical post war rework.... 1943 IBM.   Great little rifle, fun to shoot.  It can even go to the indoor pistol range.

If it slides, grease it. If it rotates, oil it. Mobil 1 Synthetic (Red)  grease is great for M1 Carbines, as well as M1 Garands.

I just bought an m1 carbine paratrooper model with folding stock.  Looking forward to breaking it down.

Another interesting detail is that the.30 carbine cartridge is not hard on barrels so even a war return is likely to have a serviceable barrel, those loaned to other countries may have been subject to heavy wear.
