Sixty-five years later, and this exceptional movie is still effective.

Alfred Hitchcock was an amazing director.

What a lot of people don't realize is how brilliant this film is shot, every frame is a piece of qrt.

My favorite line is when Norman says "Let me put it this way, she may have fooled me but she didn't fool my mother." This is the moment that unravels everything. If he hadn't said that, Arbogast would have gone away, but he comes back to talk to the mother. That's Norman's pride coming out, and though he knows his mother didn't see her, the mother side of him did. It's a slip that only someone in his condition could make. It's also the kind of thing you don't think of until you see the movie for the second time with the understanding that Norman and his mother are one and the same.

Certainly has one of the greatest music scores ever.

Janet Leigh gives one of the greatest performances on screen, and is in one of the most Iconic scenes ever. She was robbed of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.

Alfred Hitchcock.... THE MASTER of suspense. He is the director who set the bar for EVERYONE in the movie industry, even to this day.  You need to watch more from him. My favorite is The Birds.

I LOVE how blind you went into this 🙌

Dial M for Murder is a great one.

Any Alfred Hitchcock movie is a masterpiece of suspense.

"Psycho" is truly a masterpiece of a movie!

28:15 Habit. Lots of Most cars in those days had bench seats and people would crawl across to exit on the kerbside, thus avoiding traffic.

North By Northwest

Lol - "they" is the magnificent Alfred Hitchcock.  The list is long, but "Rear Window" with James Stewart and Grace Kelly is a must and there's always "The Birds".  You've now seen the iconic Psycho shower scene.

When this came out, my two Great Aunts watched it in a theater, and then had to walk back home in the dark to their apartment/dorm, where they were two young nurses working at the local campus of the State Mental Hospital!

Psycho was also the first US film ever to show a toilet on screen.

BTW Janet Leigh's daughter is the iconic Jamie-Lee Curtis.

Now you know why Hitchcock was THE MASTER! This was basically filmed with TV equipment because no studio would fund the project.  He used the equipment from his own tv show (which is great btw), and funded most of the production himself. PS Chocolate sauce was used in the shower scene for the blood analog.  Now you know, you can't unknow.  LOL

The $40,000 she stole would be just about $435,000 now; the $700 she paid for the car would be just about $7,600.

The actress playing Marion's co-worker is Hitchcock's own daughter Patricia, who appeared in three of his films.
