This was insane!! What other classics do I NEED to check out? 🎬

You have no idea how much fun it is to watch somebody watch Psycho for whom it has not been spoiled, and who is genuinely shocked at the shower scene and ultimately surprised by the final reveal. this is one of the best shot, scripted, performed, and constructed movies of all time.

What really blew everyone’s mind was seeing star Janet Leigh be murdered so early in the movie.

10:35: “He seems nice” 😂😂

There are dozens & dozens & dozens of AMAZING pre-1970s movies.  I don't even know where to begin.  Dive DEEP, young man.

So happy that he liked it!! 😊

Hitchcock was called master of suspense for a reason.  For a good color flim from him watch "Rear Window" Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly.

One of the tragic aspects of “Psycho” that almost never gets mentioned is that Marion planned to return to Phoenix with the money she stole and try to rectify things. Unfortunately, she never got the chance to redeem herself, because she actually was a very good person. But she would be remembered by the public as the female thief who stole a HUGE amount of money and then got murdered by a psychopath who thought he was his own mother.

Such a well made movie. Perfect filming, perfect direction, perfect acting. I understand why the trailers told the audience to show up in time. 10/10.

One of the best reactions to this classic! Kudos!

My good friend Dorothy's father composed the music for this film.. It's now been considered one of the most important musical works of the 20th century. Excellent reaction 👍

Hitchcock had built a clause into his contract that dealt with one important aspect of how this movie would be released in movie theaters.  Once the movie began, no one was allowed to enter the theater.  And the main female lead being killed after only a relatively short time into the movie was also a first.   The music was by Bernard Hermann, Hitchcock’s  favorite film score composer.  Hermann knew that Hitchcock had decided to shoot the movie in black and white.  So he composed a score played only by strings to give a “black and white” sound.   The repeated fast upward violin glissandi during the three knife scenes is one of the most famous film score pieces ever put on the silver screen.

You did see a skull in the fade out.

It is always a pleasure to watch someone watch this movie for the first time!

You said you thought Marion was the main character the movie would be following; so did the audiences of 1960 when Janet Lee (Marion) was at the height of box office stardom.  They went crazy in the theaters 1) to see her killed off so early 2) to see her killed at all, and so horribly 3) to see her naked, which of course you didn't but many claimed they did (mind's eye.)  Janet Lee was married to Tony Curtis, also a big movie star of the period and is the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis of HALLOWEEN fame.   Two other Hitchcock films I'd recommend are VERTIGO (1958 color) and NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959), both with musical scores by Bernard Herman, the same man that created the music for Psycho,  Masterpieces.

I really like that you hadn't heard of the twist ending. Makes it so much more interesting!

The music was used in Carrie, 1976.

Anthony Perkins was perfect for Norman Bates.  When the film came out they would not let people in before the ending of the movie and asked people not to tell their friends the story line. It was a shocker for 1960.......and now!

She was imagining the conversations in her head, she didn't live to see Monday.

"I hate what she's become." Huge clue!
