I wish people were there for the full rant Heavenly did about Malevolent Creek.

It got so loud to the point that his next door neighbors heard him ranting and was shouting back in agreement like “Hell yeah!” 😂😂😂

Sigrid is a strange mood sometimes, but she IS a mood. Once she was playing an FPS with Heavenly, got shot out of nowhere, and the first thing you heard was Sigrid screaming "YOU FUCK! HOW FAR ARE YOU DOWN THE NORWOOD SCALE, POST YOUR HAIRLINE!"

"Are the aliens now in the game?"

Yes... They came from the wormhole that we thought was a blackhole and also was created by us because we were trying to contain the superhive of bugs. Also the aliens attacked Super Earth... That was like few weeks long ingame event where we were trying to defend our homeworld from alien threat. After that the aliens retreated to the corner of galaxy and are now third major faction that we fight against in the 2nd galactic war.

To put it even more in scale, the Illuminate invading Super Earth was such a major event that the player count on Steam alone jumped from 30k players to 400k in the first few days, not including players on PS5. I myself skipped prom entirely to contribute to saving Super Earth

I liked the "People who like EDF have played Helldivers" realization, because first of all: Correct.

Second of all: the only good bug is a dead bug, and we make these bugs good

Helldivers don't get cloned or regenerated. Every time you die, you're a completely different person.

And to answer your question about being punished for civilian casualties, you lose twenty five dollars per person. In missions that typically give you thousands.

The mines bit hit me really hard… I have a friend who’s colorblind, and she cannot spot those red mines to save her life.

Incredibly good at the game, but gets defeated by the color red

In Helldivers 2, as soon as you get over be overstimulated is when you crank up the difficulty.

Space Vietnam this, Space Vietnam that.
Meanwhile were on the 20th siege of Super Afghanistan.

My sister in christ, the helldivers do not "respawn" there is no "regeneration", when you call in reinforcements that is a straight up new human being fresh from training being thrown into the meat grinder.

I was at Malevon Creek and it mostly gets misrepresented. The main thing about it is the vast number of factors that came together to make it hell. The environment played a big role, it was a thick jungle planet with (slow) walkable (75% of the time) rivers across its maps with wide open spots between trees. At the time, foliage blocked our shots but not for the bots. It slowed our movement but not the bots. The planet was always dark and misty even on the sunny side so it had low visibility and night time was pitch black.

Bots were hyper accurate and a heavy Devastators would empty its entire laser barrage into your head from a mile away. They traveled in packs. Then there were the missiles devastators. They also traveled in packs and would infinitely fire missile barrages. Ontop of also being hyper accurate, back in the day enemy rockets were instant death due to a bug multiplying its damage per limb. This lead to instances of even a single basic rocket trooper sneaking up unseen and insta-gibbing you out of nowhere. Even if it did miss you, a missile landing next to you or hitting the cover you hid behind would send you flying (When it wasnt ignoring walls and hills to just kill you). At the time tanks and hulks also took multiple heavy AT hits to blow up outside of weakpoints (small eye slit, back or both legs). Mainly its just that we just didnt have the variety of weapons and tools available now, few options for AP and AT. We had functional but basic as heck weapons with low ammo storage and resupply rates, which werent even as potent as they are now after some fixes, buffs and rebalances since then. We also had VERY little knowledge of how background stats and systems worked. So you had heavy foliage, conventional weapons and deadly accurate high damage very durable enemies. You'd be walking through the jungle, hear binary and suddenly the entire treeline lights up with laser fire from all directions from enemies you cant actually see. God help you if this was when you were trying to slowly cross a river or if you even DARED walk into an open space during combat.

Joel, the game DM of sorts, tried to "encourage" Creekers to stick to the MO planets by intensifying the seed spawn of the map, which lead to heavy reinforcement drops as well as increased frequency of large patrols consisting of significant amounts of devastators, hulks and tanks. Oh and ofcourse we would randomly get enough chainsaw berserker swarms to stretch across the horizon and fill your screen. They also had an odd quirk of needing significant amounts of firepower to take even one down. They werent effected by headshots like today, you either magdumped on them or used a precision weapon to split them in half at the belly or take out a leg. You would be surrounded from all directions. Fighting on that planet was even more of a misery. Intensifying that planet however, was a mistake because Creekers took it as a personal challenge and it drew even more people into it. You had this elite force of players who had learnt to kill bots as efficiently, precisely and swift as possible with specific kill priorities to avoid reinforcements and keep moving as fast as possible. They would sneak through maps, avoiding patrols and turning the tables on the bots by ambushing them right back, clearing objectives as fast as possible before moving on. Creekers helped players figure out weak points and how to take advantage of enemy components, precisely how many shots were needed from each weapon to take something out. There are things like durable damage, breakpoints, armor ratings vs AP ratings. All of this was stuff the intensity of the creek helped the playerbase figure out. There was a MASSIVE death toll on that planet despite it never being a main MO location and having a limited population of players on it. Until the devs got sick of it and made it an MO planet to finally liberate it so creekers would go somewhere else.

Which then lead to this hyper competent force being unleashed on the entire bot front in less difficult settings like some sort of invasive species and eventually eliminating the entire enemy bot faction off the galaxy map entirely.

Oops

Badger's next mission should be making round meal a reality.

Everyone (myself included) goes on and on about The Creek, Meridia, Calypso and all the others, but not enough people talk about the biggest event of last year: The Siege of Super Earth. 11 days where the Heart of Managed Democracy itself stood on the brink of annihilation at the hands of the Illuminate (the aliens Badger mentioned). We fought tooth and nail, inch by bloody inch for every scrap of that sacred soil, right up the gates of the very last two Mega Cities. We very nearly lost. 30000 people didn't even show up to the fight, instead choosing to spend the entire time on the bug front. Cowards, all of them.
Afterwards, data miners discovered that there were voice lines in the game in case we failed. There was a very real chance that Super Earth would fall. It's an alternate timeline that I am simultaneously terrified of and fascinated by.
This is what video games should do to us all the time, and it's a shame so few do nowadays.

Treason never prospers... for when treason does prosper it stops being treason.

The 50/50 is a lifesaver EXCEPT explosions will 99% of the time not kill you anyway, just launch you into a wall, which is what kills you 😭

You get so desensitized to stress from playing high level bots that I think it saved me many hundreds of dollars and hours on therapy.

12:30 Yes, I was among the first Helldivers dropping onto Calypso, my canonical homeworld, when the illuminate began their invasion. And I was also there when the Heart Of Democracy (Super Earth) Was attacked, I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into holding every inch of ground I could.

So, story time here.

I was diving with a friend one time on the bot front. We had already completed everything, but we were out of reinforcements and he was dead. I was running back to extraction by myself, but a horde of bots were chasing me. Out of the trees in front of me emerged a patrol, cornering me in as there was an ocean to my right and more bots to my left. As I was out of stims, I knew I had only one hope of escaping this mess.

With only one way out, I activated the portable hellbomb on my back, screamed “MY LIFE FOR SUPER EARTH!!!” in real life, and began blasting as many bots as I could.

I may not have escaped with my life, but neither did the bots, meanwhile I escaped with my dignity and the knowledge that I GAVE MY LIFE FOR SUPER EARTH! FOR DEMOCRACY! FOR LIBERTY! LONG LIVE SUPER EARTH!!! ✊

1:12:53 Well, Badger hates poor people
And he said it while carrying a Five Seven which has a buff against poor people😂

12:46 the illuminate are back yes
