This hits my heart.

About a year ago, I had this moment where I thought, “What am I doing?” I’m buying games, but I don’t actually own them. I’m paying to watch movies and TV, but I own nothing. I’m pigeonholed into whatever a streaming service decides I’m allowed to watch and if I do want to watch something, I have to sit through 13 Tide detergent ads along the way.

That realization started my journey back into physical media.

Going to the local movie store, browsing the shelves, picking up a new game, and chatting with the clerks at the local video game store has opened my eyes to how much I’ve been missing.

There’s something special about actually owning the things you love. Having them sitting on your shelf. Being able to pick them up years from now without wondering whether they’ve been removed from a service or whether your subscription still includes them.

And even something as simple as saying to a friend, “Hey, do you want to borrow Zero Company when I’m done?” feels great.

I didn’t realize how much we lost when everything became digital and subscription-based until I started going back to physical.

PS Sorry for the novel

We need the dang Andor S2 4K.

32:43 No way! This is the best Green Lantern media hands down. Very underrated

Seth is my hero for talking about GLTAS

6 livestreams, one episode each of Lego Star Wars the complete saga story mode!

I much appreciated your stance on art and its importance today, bless 🙏🏻

Princess Mononoke!!! That ties with Howl’s Moving Castle for my favorite Ghibli movie.

Also, when we’d go to Hollywood Video as a kid, we’d almost always get Star Trek V, for the whales and the great quotes.

I’ve started making my own physical copies of shows and movies I like that don’t have an official one just so I can have them. If an official release gets announced, I will GLADLY buy that instead, like Avatar Aang, but it’s not guaranteed anymore and I hate that

I never abandoned physical media. Finding new things I can physically touch. Was something that always made my day. Whenever I got a movie, game, or book I wanted. When streaming services started to become more popular. I thought it was cool. And it has its conveniences and pros as well. However, especially since the news with Sony starting to retire physical games with the newest releases beginning in 2028. And because of the fact that streaming services are basically never ending rentals. The only reason I hate non physical copies of anything. Is because our benevolent corporate overlords. Are doing everything they can. To force everyone to embrace an all digital future. Which is something I can’t accept.

Thanks for being for physical media boys, screw AI too lol

Preach, brothers! Love this topic. Big physical media advocate.

Seth, you’ve gotta watch the Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past! It’s so good! That and the Unleashed Extended Cut of The Wolverine. Both exclusive to physical media - and both my favorite versions of my favorite X-Men films. Wild that alternate cuts like those may end up lost to time. It’s discouraging that even the 4K re-release of DoFP didn’t include the Rogue Cut. I’d love a 4K release of The Wolverine - but if it doesn’t have the extended cut - I wouldn’t buy. Those are the definitive versions, for me.

The very first game I preordered was call of duty MW3 in 2011. Standing outside GameStop at 12 at night was such a fun experience. I’m sad my kids one day won’t get to have that experience

Great episode on a hot topic right now. Just recently bought a Xbox series x so I can go back to buying physical media. PlayStation is completely wrong with their stance. I agree at least Nintendo is trying to make an effort.

Do you think we will ever see a physical release of Clone Wars season seven, or a complete series?
