I'm reading a book by Edna Ferber's great-niece about all the research Edna did and the people she met, it's a wonderful book called "Giant Love"!  I love the movie Giant, it's a classic!  It had a great script and that fight scene in the diner showed how some in America accepted change and some didn't!

It's like seeing movies for the first time! Bravo for making us appreciate how much effort and deep thought went into the movies! Unlike today!

I love all the stars in "Giant" but in all honesty Jane made this video.... She was hilarious, sincere and ultimately so touching!!

That very end to this had me emotional.  This was a wonderful insight to a great film filled with great actors.

The late actor Heath Ledger always reminded me of James Dean. Two amazing talents, both gone too soon.
I saw Giant in Texas, back in 1956, when I was a child of 5 years. Even then, it made a huge impression on me: the talent on that big screen, the story, etc.

I don't understand why Taylor didn't get an Oscar nom for this. 😮

"It's a real bad wind that doesn't blow somebody some good."

Love this movie. I’ve seen it twice, and would definitely watch it again.

Jane Withers calling those her 'home movies' is so charming -- If only all of us could have home movies starring Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor. TY!

It was absolutely beautiful to see people talk about James Dean in such intimate ways. To hear how his tragic death touched people who had been working with him on this film. It’s rare to get that kind of perspective on James Dean. He was such an enigmatic almost isolated very young actor. Hardly more than a boy but so dedicated to the craft of acting. He always seemed lost and insecure. It’s nice to know that the cast and crew of Giant really did care about him and respect him and mourn for him. It would have been wonderful to see him grow into the super star I’m sure he would have been. The stories of his bond with Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood on the set of Rebel without a Cause always made me think he was starved for family and sense of connectedness.

This was wonderful to see. Thank you.

Love this movie! It's my favorite Elizabeth Taylor movie! 💜

These deep dives on these movies are terrific.

Truly an excellent movie, one of those that takes you through a journey in time, you see the actors age and times change around them. The Benedict ranch changing from cattle to oil riches, albeit begrudgingly from Bick Benedict's viewpoint. It's all done very well, the makeup and wardrobe people did a good job aging Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean as time passes. Their acting skills did the rest. It's sad that James Dean was killed before the movie hit theaters, he played the role of Jett Rink so well. I would have liked to have seen him make movies for many years after, but it was not to be. Hard not to get emotional watching Jane Withers at the end of this as she remembers it all. Thanks for yet another fine BTS video!

Such a joy to see footage of Rock Hudson and gis personal reflections, thank you!

Good work. A labor of love, no doubt. Support this channel.

I adore Steven’s ‘GIANT’! Bick, Leslie, Jett Rink! James Dean, Dennis Hopper and Sal Mineo reunited, albeit in extremely different characters!!! The ending, one white baby, next to the Mexican baby, is always so powerful! It’s the Texas version of ‘Gone With the Wind’. Serious Feather- another classic! Thank you! #TartanArmy 🤭

It's wonderful !

This is an invaluable channel. Thank you so much for the constant inspiration and for sharing such brilliance. 💕

thank u for uploading this <3 giant is one of my all time favorites

This was such a great documentary. A poignant moment occurred when Rock Hudson was talking about the makeup that made him look old in “Giant,” which he said was so accurate. He said, “Now I know what I’ll look like when I’m seventy!”
