This man's musicality is absolutely insane. A pure genius.

"You And I" is a gem often missed. Listening to his albums completely is required, in my opinion. I glanced, and this appears to be your approach. I'm subscribing as a result. 🙏

One of the greatest albums of all time.

This album is a masterpiece and you got it bad girl is one of the best songs ever made period hopefully you listen to this album alone without talking with that being said I genuinely appreciate you reacting to Stevie hopefully you react to the rest of his 70s run

7:19 Talking Book will always be my favorite Stevie Wonder album...
and the song, "Maybe Your Baby" is my favorite Stevie song of all time ...
it's so funky, and all the vocal effects (on Stevie's background vocals) through synthesizers is so pleasing...

while.. "Send One Your Love" is my favorite Stevie ballad of all time...
from the album "Journey through the Secret Life of Plants..." (1979)...an underrated classic album

He and Prince (my two favorite artists) performed "Maybe Your Baby" together live once. It is AMAZING!!!

Idk if it’s my favorite, favorite because this albums close to perfection in my opinion but up there for me is, You’ve Got It Bad Girl. The way it musically just saunters and floats with those synths playing off each other and that conga. It’s not one of the high tempo funk tracks or a ballad, just kinda coasts in this middle area with those breathy understated vocals that couple with the lyrics, just seductively lure me in and is so unique to the rest of the album.

I figured knowing what musically pulls you in with songs, it wouldn’t be one of ur favs, just had to go to bat for my fav since I think when I was getting into exploring Stevie, this is one of the first songs that got me to appreciate him on a whole nother level, but that’s all good, just glad you enjoyed the album. Look forward to you exploring more of his amazing catalog at some point :)

Lyrics matter.
This is my favorite Stevie Wonder album.

(You've Got It Bad Girl) is my favorite, because of what Stevie is doing with the synthesizers on this track .🎶🎶🎹🎹.
Ms. Morena, it's the other way around , (don't be sorry us), (we''ll be sorry for you) not understanding.

This was one of the main albums during my prime coming age time of life. "YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE", a great opener & always reminds me of my summer of love 72 at 16. I was a true romantic & dreamer and the music of 1972 in every style and genre were at their peak of creativity. It was also when music was transforming & evolving culturally, technologically, socially and spiritually and so was I. 🌞
> I had just become intrigued by the effects of mind enhancing and conscious expanding substances, so I was thrilled when Stevie created this Funky Psychedelic tune, "MAYBE YOUR BABY", the underappreciated Rock Out epic was our anthem that sent us bouncing off the walls of my smoke-filled basement. 🤪At the end, he says the line "I'm a little boy". I was reminded then that 'Boy" was a slang for 'heroin'. His dark humor reminds me of the rumors that Stevie (like everyone from the 60's) went through a drug phase which he reflects on, lyrically, on his next album "Innervisions".
> And then there's the magnificently romantic "YOU AND I" which is the most ''tear-filled emotional' song of all time. The crescendo that slowly builds up peaks with the heart exploding towards the heavens. I can't help but cry! 😭 Side Note: There were two other beautiful love songs titled "You & I" in 1972, by Black Ivory (romantic vocal soul group) & Progressive Rock band, YES (And You & I).
> Sorrrrrrry who can't feeeeeel "TUESDAY HEARTBREAK" the wonderfully Funky bouncy gem that strikes right at the center of heartbreak from unrequited love. LOL! Extremely disagree & dismiss your put down. Had to fast forward past it.... 👎💔
> "YOU'VE GOT IT BAD, GIRL" if you can't groove to that track. I am sorry for you or anyone who hasn't acquired the taste of such a-instrumentally interlaced smooth jazzy sweet groove & lyrically profound song. 😲
> "SUPERSTITION" is infamous & timeless but try imagining having heard it for the first time, I saw Stevie Live before his transformation in 72 & again in 74.
> "BIG BROTHER" this wonderfully folky acoustic strings harmonica gliding & stinging political vibe is pure FIRE🔥
> "LOOKING FOR ANOTHER PURE LOVE" a sophisticated gorgeously fluid jazzy chord-changing atmosphere w/ bittersweet guitar by the great late Jeff Beck 🎸
> "I BELIEVE WHEN I FALL IN LOVE" is the perfect finally that starts off like a prayer and then rises like a gospel choir. 😇😇😇😍😍 to uplift the soul. "Answer my prayer"

Stevie's music is visceral. He writes words, rhythms and melodies as emotional images in sonic moods & atmospheres which he expresses, projects and shares.
Some songs only sound older because you are so much younger. 👶vs👴 So that's not a valid critique
BTW, the era of the mid 60's through the early 70's, was all about LOVE, PEACE, EARTH, UNITY & POSITIVITY... :hand-purple-blue-peace: Most of the songs were about ❤. It's when all the New Age thinking began culminating.  Too bad it didn't last. 😥
💕💕💕 TALKING BOOK!!!

The scale on opening of You Are The Sunshine of My Life is called whole tone, which maybe is what you heard. In this case it’s played on the keyboard in 3rds, & gives it a dreamy sound. It’s funny, you calling Stevie ‘O.G’ now, but keep in mind, he was 21 or 22 when this was released. You should try to see HITSVILLE: The Making Of Motown. After Stevie turned 21, he sent legal letter to Berry Gordy ( the day after Gordy threw Stevie a party), to declare that he wanted complete production control over his own work. What your hearing is part of the result of that, Talking Book & the album before this, Music Of My Mind. You mentioned the synth keyboards, yes & also the multi-tracking of his own voice, (which Marvin Gaye had also begun), & Stevie playing drums on almost all his work through the ‘70’s & much of the ‘80’s. 👍

que bien que gente joven como tu escuche clasicos de los 70 y 80 por que la de hoy en dia no tiene mucha calidad

You'll Have It Good Girl is one of the best tracks on the record. :)

❤🎉😂😊 so beautiful 😍

We had this album as a kid and I knew it well. You & I was THE wedding song of its time and many years thereafter. I'd also recommend that you listen to the single version of Sunshine of My Life. The added horn arrangement finishes it for me. Also because it's the version that was best known publicly known and for which he won a Grammy.

I love the balads too. But I love every second of this album. Stevie himself is the producer. He plays all the instruments except horns and guitars. The guitars are the great Jeff Beck. My favorite of all Stevie's albums. And that's saying a lot. He was 21.

There is a story behind Superstition. In the studio, Stevie came in from lunch or something and Jeff Beck was sitting at his drum kit working out a riff. Stevie loved it and immediately wrote Superstition around it. His intention was to give it to Jeff to record first but the label insisted it was so good that Stevie had to release it first. Grammy award for record of the year.

On Looking for another Pure Love you can hear him say, "Do it, Jeff." in the middle of the guitar solo.

Some drums and mainly keyboards on "Maybe Your Baby." No bass guitar (almost anywhere on the album for that matter) and besides the fuzzy distorted soloing, no guitar on the track either. It's a ton of clavinet with a wah peddle and some bass synth. Almost all the other strange noises you hear are from synthesizers programmed through TONTO (Malcom Cecil and Robert Margouleff's huge assembled collection of electronic keyboards as one mobile unit). Stevie does play a lot of electric piano (Fender Rhodes particularly) on this LP too. A tour de force and he was only just getting started!

I’ll save you some time, on every studio album Stevie is on the drum kit.

🎶🎶💥"You are the sunshine of my life" was literally the lite rock staple on adult contemporary radio in the 1980s

To each his own but it just seems like you have to constantly talk. Stevie's lyrics are meant to be absorbed and reacted to but you are so busy describing it, to me you're missing a lot.
