How did I forget to mention that Pucci moves during Jotaro’s Time Stop in Stone Ocean😂

Throughout the part 3, there have been hints of his sheer speed basically allowing him to move in stopped time, like him beating Geb in speed and him getting the drink in front of Darby. I personally believe that Jotaro basically brute forced his way into stopped time, kinda of like a speedster

this is a very nice theory, but i have another one that i consider to be the real reason why jotaro has the time stop.
fate was shown to be a physical force in the jojo universe that nobody can escape. some people (example: diavolo) try to overcome it, but it always leads to it backfiring at them eventually in someway. and fate was also shown to be on the side of the joestars at the end of each part because like emporio said in part 6 "following the just path is in it of itself fate" which is what the Joestars have been doing all the time.
since they always follow this path, fate grants them the necessary strength to overcome hardships and defeat evil like we've seen with gold experience requiem having the ability to revert all actions into their null state which counters king crimson's ability.
i believe this is also the case for jotaro. fate granted him the power to defeat evil.

I feel like araki wanted to keep the time stop ability around cause it's so cool but he couldn't keep dio alive so he gave it to jotoro

This also means that The World can use Star Finger.

Another explaination is that Star Platinum's ability (The Star) is that he can (like the "up facing" Star card in the Major Arkana) adapt to any situation by renewing oneself. The Star is also driven a lot by Love, Hope and Faith.
Star Platinum is famous for always having a new ability every time it is shown. But it always comes as a defence to others rather than a personal desire, which is the case with The World.
1) He developed great fighting skills because Jotaro was a fighter by nature, so, he should have a stand that can help him win fights.
2) He tried to shoot himself, but Star Platinum had the speed to catch the bullet.
3) He developed Star Finger when he needed increased range to fight against the Sea Captain with his Deep Blue Moon stand (To protect the girl).
4) He developed high detail vision when he needed to zone in on Dio's location (To protect his Mother)
5) He developed surgical precision to remove Flesh Buds (To protect Kakyoin)
6) He developed the lung capacity to suck an entire town's worth of fog in order to defeat Enyaba's Judgement stand (to protect Polnaref)
7) He developed the speed to fight Silver Chariot without hurting Polnaref (during the Anubis fight)
8) He developed Time Stop (Star Platinum-The World) to protect his grandfather, Joseph as it was pretty much the only way he could defeat Dio (Silver Chariot was around about as fast as Star Platinum and he sneak attacked Dio "IN THE BRAIN" and he actually landed that hit... and he was still fodderised by The World's time stop).  He also developed it faster... it took Dio years to get 5 seconds of timestop, it took Jotaro a few hours to get 2 seconds.
9) He saw that Pucci could shorten his time stop with his Made In Heaven stand, so he got an even longer timestop for his very final use of the ability (to protect his daughter). It was only long enough to get Jolyne out of danger and not long enough to defeat Pucci. Jolyne was the only person to walk away from that alive (albeit briefly) besides Emporio.

The Star, The World and The Tower are referenced in the Stargazer song by the band Rainbow, which was sang by Dio's namesake "Ronnie-James Dio": (Found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSIZBSNxb54 ).

Dio is the wizard who fooled the people (his followers) into following him and contributing to his dream, which was to build a Tower above the land of Egypt, after which he would fly off to the Heavens (Dio's Heaven Plan) which was his Star in the sky, he climbed to the top of The World, but he fell before that Star instead of flying, shattering the hopes of his followers who waited 9 years to see the wizard fly. After they realised that they'd been tricked, they had to continue on and find a new purpose.

Here are some lyrics to the song I linked:
"All eyes, see the figure of the Wizard as he climbs to the Top Of The World, no sound as he falls instead of rising. TIME STANDING STILL, then there's blood on the sand... Oh, I see his face.... Where was your Star, was it Far, was it Far"?

The design of The World (the stand) was also likely a reference to another song by Ronnie-James Dio, Holy Diver.
The song is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvpWRlJY6YQ

Here are some scattered lyrics from various parts of the Holy Diver song:
1) "Holy Diver, You've been down to long in the midnight sea.... (Dio spent 100 years underwater)
2) Holy Diver, you're the star of the Masquerade, no need to look so afraid... Jump, Jump, Jump on the Tiger, you can feel his heart but you know he's mean, SOME LIGHT CAN NEVER BE SEEN (He see's himself as the star of the masquerade, as in, he feels entitled to have the world, but he's always being chased by the cat/tiger that the song is referring to, aka, the Joestars). There's some light that can never been seen (He's a vampire, he will never see the light).
3) Got Shiny Diamonds, like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue, something is coming for you, race for the morning, you can hide in the sun till you see the light.

im still finding it funny that kakyoin got donuted and yeeted into a water tower to figure out the worlds power and kira just got barraged once by sp and 'ITS ALMOST AS IF HE STOPPED TIME!' 😂

I remember reading a theory somewhere, I think maybe on Reddit, saying that time being stopped is only capable by extremely fast stands such as The World and Star Platinum that are able to reach a certain speed, basically implying Jotaro vs Dio is a battle of speed. Since Dio is a vampire with increased strength, he’s able to move faster and improve his speed overtime which leads him to move fast enough to stop time for 10 seconds for example, while Jotaro only being a human is only able to move fast enough to stop time for 5 seconds or so. This could explain why the only other stand user who’s been able to move in stopped time is Pucci with made in heaven since his whole ability is about speed.

Star Platinum should not have kept getting nerfed

I do like this theory but I truly believe that it’s just a case that Star Platinum and the World both just are the same type of stand. There are examples of people manifesting stands with the same or similar abilities. Joseph’s Hermit Purple and Jonathan’s stand are the same type of stand with the same ability as they are stands that represent Hamon potentially being the source of Hamon. Ball Breaker is mentioned as a Stand of the Spin and was achieved, used, and even researched by past members of the Zeppeli family. Tomb of the Boom is another example of different people having the same type of stand and the two Rats from part 4 manifested the exact same stand and when Giorno cloned the turtle both turtles had the same stand ability at the same time.

4:56 I will say, considering that Araki expects readers to figure stuff out sometimes, your probably right

Stands are based off the users fighting Spirit and it's showing very well, that that spirit is heavily linked to their talents and passions as well as their nature as a person. If you ask me, I think Jotaro and DIO just have the same kind of stand because they are similar people on some really deep level deeper than their moral selves or their presentation

first off, both DIO and Jotaro are extremely analytical, both have anger issues, both are fast thinkers (which I honestly think is probably the biggest key to this, thinking so fast through a situation that's almost like time stops and that second limitation is ultimately how much you can thank yourself through that situation In a mere flash of a moment which is the stopped time. The stand ability pretty much just gives the agency within that flash itself, but as fast thinkers Jotaro didn't need it that much before, but what if he does think he has used it multiple times before, without even realizing it if only mostly to think through the situation.) also, it's kind of implied that Jotaro probably has a bad relationship with his father in the same way DIO did, DIO also shows resentment towards his father for how he treated his mother showing Dio was abit a mamas boy, and Jotaro literally killed DIO for his mom so kinda makes sense.

I wanna compliment your theory with something and it's that the capabilities of a stand is often related to the type of person the stand user is. The best example is King Crimson, as Diavolo doesn't admit defeat ever, in fact he crumbles at the thought of having to ever lose in his life, so his stand changes his fate, he defies fate so hard that he ends in an eternal loop where the outcome is always the same.

Jotaro and Dio share the same fundamental trait, they take anything they want, no questions asked because they deserve it, they believe in their strength. There's a key difference of course, because Jotaro tells Kakyoin how he commits crimes with no guilt, but he doesn't see himself as evil, because there is true evil and that's not what makes him like that, that's just him being stubborn, unlike Dio who was ready to do anything for power. But other than that, they are the same people, they even share the same fate: Killing a member of each other's family, but years later being prosecuted by their legacy and killed (then Jolyne's legacy, which was Emporio, killed Pucci and ended the idea of Dio). This trait is so powerful it gives them the power to stop the world, Jotaro doesn't rename the ability, he takes the world from Dio and says it every time: This is my world and I can do whatever I want. The more I want it the more I can pause time, that's why a weak and recently comatose Jotaro reached his longest timestop in his last battle against Pucci, he now had someone to care for more than anything, his spirit was at its peak, no wonder why Araki calls it the strongest stand.

This makes sense especially if you factor in killer queen/king crimson/GER  all had or inherited time based abilities

Jonathan Joestar's body that passes on the spiritual connection when DIO awakened his Stand.

Pretty good analysis. Though the conclusion that everyone can stop time, provided their stands have an A in speed and strength, seems a bit off to me. But the fact that almost all the main villains with the strongest stands in this series also gain some sort of time manipulation ability throughout their own journeys, does seem to lend it credence.

I've seen another theory that goes 'Jotaro's true ability is to copycat other stands, he just doesn't do so because he doesn't know/believe it hard enough', and to me it seems just as likely.

The videogame seems to back it up too.

Yeah, I know that 'Eyes of heaven' isn't canon, but setting that aside, seeing jotaro magically get himself a heaven stand just because dio has one, felt like a massive asspull, even more so than the original, but if Jotaro's original ability from the start was just to copycat, then it would make sense that he could get himself a heaven stand the moment he saw one.

Overall I'm left feeling a little conflicted between which theory to beleive, but I'm leaning more towards yours than the other one.

3:01 - Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

We need more videos on jotaro and dio flying. I used to think they weren but upon looking closer, they may genuinely be flying. A lot of visual evidence.
