A Forstner bit does not need a pilot hole.
The relief angle on most router blades is around 10deg. Slightly less for 'cleaning out' bits. If you are going with less, you really want the rake a bit higher than the 25deg of a chisel. Even with 10deg it is only 35deg total- at least 40deg is preferable, especially for hardwoods.
I know this is hard when using an allen key-there is not a lot of material. One solution is to make the hole through the wood slightly backward leaning, this adds to the relief angle. The front can also be shortened considerably- it is much longer than needed.
It is worth noting that the forces acting on the cutter means that mounting the clamp high on the block is advisable.
