It’s actually hilarious that they featured Jean Grey as a villain in a Spider-Man movie. They likely don’t realise, but it’s similar to a story in the Ultimate universe where Jean gets revenge on Wolverine by swapping his mind with Spidey's. That story ends with Spidey chewing out the X-Men. He tells them that they’re not hated because they’re mutants. It’s because they’re awful people.

"Your past tragedy does not excuse your wicked, immoral behavior."

- Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

morally grey? she made that construction worker walk into on coming traffic. thats evil

"Cool motive, still murder"
-Jake Peralta, Brooklyn 99

Also the fact she was so frustrated that she couldn't jump into Peter's mind that she broke into his apartment and went digging through his belongings. And being condescending as she did so

Marvel has that stigma that nice women equals weak women and they definitely can't show a vulnerable woman

Jean Grey is really just MCU Wanda 2.0 who lashed out to place everyone under her control and get away with it afterwards.

Imagine that after Tony found out Bucky killed his parents, that he unleashed an iron legion to massacre random civilians because he was just soooooo mad and sad. This is Jean. She’s not morally ambiguous, she’s evil .

Whoever wrote her probably believes the lie that any action can be justified by trauma or oppression. The same kind of person that would parrot the "mostly peaceful protest" lie while BLM turned over cars, looted small businesses, and burned stuff to the ground. It was okay, because it wasn't all of them, and even the ones doing it were oppressed, so it was excusable... which is the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Even if they were oppressed, which they're not anymore, that wouldn't justify that behavior, especially because it wasn't them attacking their "oppressors," it was them looting and causing damage to random people and their property and businesses. It was wonton chaos for the sake of chaos, much like Jean was doing.

It’s interesting how Spider-Man just watched as Jean killed that man. He has spider senses. So, he absolutely knew what was gonna happen beforehand.

I hate this trend of turning obvious villains into "misunderstood" as if a sad backstory justifies murder. They love doing this with female characters.

Anyone else notice a pattern the MCU has where if a terrorist is a woman, their crimes will be excused as "trauma"? Wanda, Karli Morgenthau, and now Jean?

Jean Gray in this movie is far more evil than her Dark Phoenix version.

This is now the second time Hulk has been mind controlled by a psychotic telepath who says she is just morally ambiguous because she has trauma unrelated to him

People’s acceptance of Jean’s actions are a reflection of society’s current moral decay.

Hollywood seems to be stuck in this belief that "good girls are boring, and ONLY evil people are interesting"
It's kind of like the quote "Well behaved women never made history."
EXCEPT - they use it as an excuse to be evil, horrible, sadistic people, and claim that their beliefs and actions are fully justified, When. They. Are. NOT!

I’m surprised all this isn’t a bigger problem for people. It was insane how the movie just thinks everything she did was either justifiable or neutral 😂

The irony is Jean Grey DID NOT kill the guy who ACTUALLY KILLED her sister.

After all that mayhem. All the illegalities and destruction.

She doesn’t take her actual revenge.
And Peter is trusting the NYPD to do an investigation of an elite paramilitary organization??

Stupid. Writing.

That scene where she pretended to be MJ to trick peter was SINISTER. That's not a misguided villain that's an evil villain

Jean DEFINITELY has blood on her hands. If this gets addressed in a future story where she’s suffering from the guilt of her past actions that could be pretty good… I don’t think they’ll go in that direction.
