Jayawijaya Regent Athenius Murib was furious following the shooting of a Jayawijaya Police traffic officer on Wednesday evening (May 28, 2025). Athenius Murib stated that the shooting had sparked tensions in Papuan society.

The Regent ultimately demanded that Egianus Kogoya, the leader of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of the Free Papua Movement (OPM), leave his city. Previously, a Jayawijaya Police Traffic Unit officer with the initials Bripka M, was shot in front of Wamena Regional Hospital in the Papua Highlands Province.

The perpetrator is suspected to be from the OPM group led by Egianus Kogoya. Based on this, Athenius Murib issued a firm response to Egianus Kogoya.
