From experience id say Framerate is my personal favorite of increasing sense of speed. Everything in 60fps looks so smooth and clean. 24-30 fps is impressively chaotic.

Videographer here. A key guideline for setting shutter speed in relation to frame rate is to set the shutter speed to approximately double the frame rate. This helps achieve natural motion blur in video. So a frame rate of 24 = 1/50 shutter speed.

I really gotta admit: I've been watching MTB content on Youtube for the past 6-7 years. I've seen most Channels change for the worse - being that click bait thumbnail / controversial Video Title what so ever. But I always find myself enjoying your content no matter what. Former 360 cam user here.... Was using the Insta360 One RS. I too reframed my footage and zoomed out a little more in post, really like how there were no warped edges but I didn't like the stretched, spaghetti look it was giving to my arms which you can kind of see in your video. I've seen other videos where it's much worse. But I'm back to using a single lens camera.

As for ND filters, I think it's worth mentioning ND filters can interfere with image stabilization on some cameras, which is why I  really like your tip on shooting later in the day to get more blur as using ND filters always added less image stabilization to may footage. Going to try that next.

Ryan, I like your videos. I love this one! At 75, I know I don't ride like you guys but I do have the fastest times on my trails in my age bracket. And I am always looking to improve (which your videos have helped me to accomplish). But why I really like this video is I am a photographer/videographer and taught it in high school. The subtleties you have covered are pin point. Field of view, wide angle, sound quality especially were some of the greatest challenges my students had to learn as they were learning how to make movies. You can't see sound! It shows its angry head only when you get to see (and hear) what you captured on yesterday's takes. If I had the chance to work with you with the new technology and my new sport of MTB I would finish my life in the clouds. Thanks for what you have done. I will stay in touch on your channel.

Great video. One thing that you didn't mention was the limits of built in stabilization being affected by low shutter speeds and frame rates. The ability of the camera to grab frames and crop/ reorient on the fly is drastically reduced. Hence wearable gimbals like folks such as yourself use to keep things smooth and steady. Or just a new X5 as you explained in another video.

Another very effective way to add peripheral speed i discovered is to correct the distortion of the footage, usually the very wide FOV of action cam (not 360) distorts very heavily the images making things near the centre of the image to appear bigger: this makes the things ur passing by "move" less in the frame. Distortion corrected footage makes u feel like u are traveling more space in the same amount of time compared to non-corrected ones.
