This cat and mouse chase was a good one. The elderly couple's '56 Ford F100 is a gem and I remember them sounding that way when they were not so old. Most have been butchered or restomodded now which is sad. The police cars ('56 Olds and Mercury) are just great. Love the old diners long before chain restaurants put many of them out of business (some still exist) Actress Gail Kobe (the office girl) would embark on a long career. This is one of her early roles.
At 21:15 when the bad guy is sitting at the diner window table with the lady, you can see "Sego Nursery" across the street: the nursery is still there, in Burbank. The diner is now Tommy's Burgers.
Yes this is I indeed a classic right down to those old jalopes .Riding down those CALIFORNIA dirt roads and back roads, the desert towns with their districts dinners. Yes those days were one of a kind just like the show they don't make tv like this anymore. Thank goodness for YOUTUBE and DVDS !!!!!
This is one of the best episodes ever. The acting, action & dialogue were stellar. "get in that safe before l blow a hole in yer belly as big as the one in yer head"!!! That's banter straight from the Streets. Mathews knowing the cook couldn't possibly be a Day Laborer because he resembled the Pillsbury Doughboy... Only decades on patrol give you that kind of insight. Riveting.
