Obscure Ace Combat Clones

Once you run out of Ace Combat games to play there's only one thing left to do: play clones! Rip-offs. Pale imitations. Anything to recapture the high of fast paced flight combat without stealing an old F-14 Tomcat and getting into a dogfight with a weather balloon (I think they've all been destroyed now anyway). Since the series' inception there has existed a surprisingly amount of Ace clones, or what I call "ace-likes", games that kind of play like Ace Combat but aren't actually Ace Combat. Some of them are much better than others. In this video, we're going to be taking a look at around a dozen of them that were released during the fifth and sixth console generations (mainly on the PSX and PS2). That was the intention, anyway. Halfway through writing this video I realised it was actually a sneaky Sidewinder series retrospective. Somehow, there's five of those. You know the wait for Ace Combat 8 has been excruciating when you resort to playing Top Gun: Combat Zones.
