Actually trying to help people with advice that saves thousands is a very generous thing to do! Sounds like the most expensive thing you can do is put cheap injectors in a car

I have had a few RS3's and have been lucky to have bought them from new. I modify pretty much all the vehicles I own (regardless of warranty period) and other than the usual flaky OEM sensors, the cars have run flawlessly. Yes stock turbo and rods on DAZA engines can run around 550 to 570ps but the torque needs to be capped off to 680/700nm as precaution. The issues begin to surface on these engines when the car has been through 3 or 4 owners who all like to drive the car hard because thats why they bought an RS3. So the engine gets super abused, most likely revved like hell at standstill for pop and bang effects, skimped on servicing, intervals and the one which I commonly see is filling it up with crap fuel and then running it on the top power map. All a recipe for an expensive engine rebuild. These engines also tend to heat soak so cooling is also something that gets overlooked on tuned cars. Buying a used RS3 is a bit of lottery now as so many are treated like race cars.

Stumbled on your channel and have just been looking through your YT back catalogue and I've seen a couple of your vids where it seemed you're wavering on whether to carry on with the YT stuff....pleeeeease do... I totally get its not your bread and butter and you've got priorities and all that but you pitch the technical stuff perfectly for this particular member of your audience. You guys are genuinely brilliant at this; engaging, informally informative, hilarious, self deprecating, deeply knowledgable and great camaraderie. It's like watching the best bits of old Bike/Performance Bike/Performance Car/Car/evo/RE magazines come to life.

We need this guy here in the States Glad he made the time to do YouTube 😅. I am on the fence on getting a ttrs used because they don’t make them anymore or a new rs3 new and thinking about stage 1 +. Currently have a very high mileage mk2 manual tt vr6 that’s stock.

Always keep in mind that while there are a lot of people that watch for the chatter, there are probably at least as many that enjoy the technical aspects. Even if they don't own that car or know what the heck you are talking about at all. This is a specific video on a specific piece, but the underlying principles can be applied to all engines, and as such it is good info for everyone.

Just ordered a new RS3, owned a few performance cars now, there aint NO WAY its safe to buy 2nd hand any more.

With the amount of stage 1 tuning going on then being reverted, nah, wont catch me dead.

Fantastic discussion and kudos to Ricky for sharing his vast knowledge. With all engines reliability is inversely proportional to power increase. I have a 2012 C63 I bought in June last year with 113,000ks on the clock. First thing I did was replace the injectors since there is anecdotal evidence on various forums that there have been catastrophic failures on the M156 engine caused by injectors sticking open.
