4 yrs later after you uploaded your video, I'm trying to loose the front sprocket nut, with no joy, I'll have to try this method

Thanks for the video!  I just changed out the chain and sprockets on my bike and was having no luck loosening the front sprocket. Was hesitant to try and remove while in gear but then I saw your video.  Instead of using a screwdriver, I used 2 M6 bolts and using the old chain, bolted it around the rear sprocket, laid the rest of the chain around the top of the front sprocket and had no problems loosening the bolt.  Installed the new front sprocket, flipped the chain and wrapped it around the front sprocket from the bottom and re-torqued the nut to factory spec. All told, less than 5 minutes to remove and reinstall and no unnecessary strain on my transmission or rear brakes.

All I do is wedge a screwdriver in the front sprocket and between the chain, push the bike forward until tight and then simply apply enough torque via a good size breaking bar. Never done anything else and this has worked on several bikes from Japan and Europe

Man, I just installed a primary Drive countershaft inside out then proceeded to torque it down... talk about a grown man cry as I tried to loosen that bolt. Your video saved the day even if it took a screwdriver with it. I used hex keys and they held up nicely. I couldn’t quite figure out the configuration for the instal so i put the back wheel back on, stepped on the brake, torqued easily to 54 ftpounds. 2002 Yamaha WR250F.

Even tho I had to use a pretty good impact driver gun, your trick worked very well. I did however switch the zip tie with a steel wire but very thankfull I came across your video!

Thank you my Master. The socket in my Versys was locked to the point I had to use a torch and a lot of WD-40.
Rear brake was slipping under the wrench torque, I broke a hammer handle sticking it between the wheel and swing arm. I liked that hammer. A simple screw driver did the job easily. You saved my day. ❤️❤️ Love from Poland

what a legend!     complete noob here, removing my swing arm on my R1 and done it all backwards... rear wheel off, shock linkage off, pivot shaft out and swing arm flapping in the wind then realised the chain/sprocket needed to come off 🤦‍🥵🥵    This worked perfect for me. Cheers 🍻

Brilliant Mate!! I was messing with mine and I bolloxed it by removing the rear wheel first and cutting my chain, so I'll just slap an ol' screwy through the chain and wrap around axle housin' and be peachy.
