The hang up on "Lanterns" vs "Lantern" or "Green Lantern" is funny to me. You literally saw 2 different lantern batteries and 4 different ring slingers.

Going to start Lanterns tomorrow. Just wanted to support.

Man… it’s always great to see some of my favorite pods come together. Seeing these beautiful people on screen together just reaffirms my excellent taste. Blessings to your climb in follows.

Another great conversation!

Found y'all during the Lanterns discourse and been watching quietly for weeks. I thought I subscribed but now I am!

I'm a big Green Lantern fan and I'm also a black nerd. So happy I found y'all!

I did not want to hop off of the Lanterns train. In fact, I haven’t followed an HBO series, as such, since the WIRE. This channel was a complementary addition to a future award-winning series.
S/O to the masterminds of this channel, which has challenged the audience to stir-up conversations for out of the box meet ups

Love the show. Love the guests. And I gotta say- this is the second series I watched in full with my aged Lebanese lioness of mother and then listened to your show. She loves the crew and the takes. Thanks y’all!

To the comment about the Sinestro battery, go back and watch that last scene again, I did cause the needle drop was perfection. The core of that lantern is yellow....

I am gonna watch the video when I get home. But off rip. No not copaganda. It's why Jon is a free agent. Its why his oath isn't about fighting "evil". It's why he chooses grace over "justice"

Feels like there was a long digression on the nature of violence and specifically coercive violence. I think it was interesting to get a pulse on how each of the hosts felt about it, though I do think I am on Porshea and Benhameen's side here cuz the data on coercive violence shows that it doesn't actually get reliable information we just act like it does in movies and video games all the time.

I missed it!! 😭😭😭

Black Family Feud In Da House!!!

Wait... did they just make John Stewart the Yellowbone Lantern?

I don't think it was copaganda to answer the title. At least I don't see reasons for that like it was some law and order episode.

W crossover

Reducing this to just a cop show really doesn't make sense to me but hey to each their own....the other thing is that we really haven't seen this Hal before, a jaded, closer to the end of super-heroing because of age, 30 years in the game as a human and all that comes with that; so yes this Hal shouldn't be the Hal we might have known from comics or shows

Keep in mind, that this show didn't have the budget to go full cosmic, it had to prove to WBD, that ppl were interested after the 2011 box office, so they used a character work, to hook audiences and show there was an interest. It worked, they did what they needed to do, with what they had to work with. Now, going forward we can go deeper and further expand on the GL lore.

Keep in mind, Kerry's world has crashed down around her at least 3 times. Gotham, Zoes attack, and now Hal is telling her its happening again. She was already struggling internally with the fears of what her son could become. She tried to bottle her fear and live in denial after having already experienced tremendous trauma at least twice. Her fear, her bottled complex emotions, the panic from the illusion of saftey she tried to hold on to being shattered again, it all overwhelmed her, and her body reacted before her rational mind could catch up... her body reacted before her rational mind could catch up. She couldn't hear Hal trying to help she could only see and feel her world collapsing again, and then he was dead with the gun in her hand. This show was heavy with commentary on trauma responses and how trauma and our response to it shape and affect our lives. John, Hal, Kerry were exploring that theme.

So, is Tren out here ready to waterboard an Ewok? They’re “aliens.”
