Both sketches were lovely! 😊

This is the most helpful explanation of sketching buildings EVER! Finding biggest shapes, using the hands of a clock to determine angles, comparing placement of shapes in relation to those being drawn next... so many simple yet brilliant ways to draw an urban setting!

Looks like you got yourself a sketching partner! That‘s absolutely brilliant! I really need to stop just watching videos and buying and hoarding supplies and to get out there. Thanks for sharing.

Great clock tip!! Thank you! I’m a beginner sketcher and I’m so happy i found your channel! Watched lot of videos! So inspiring! ❤

This was a lot of fun. I’ve recently taught a coworker to watercolor, a crash course, on a whim of hers and she’s not stopped since. I told her she would never see colors and shapes the same again and she admits I was right—and she’s constantly sending me pictures and describing places and trees and sunsets because who else wants to know all this now?! Haha. So we have taken up sketching in the car, as it’s chilly here and she’s a winter wimp. But it’s fun, and we have discovered some new spots and great wonky trees and building facades and alleys to take on and are now building up our adventure list for the future. I think this is such a wonderful way to make a new friend and see the world together, making sketches and memories, learning from our own mistakes and discoveries and also learning from and alongside someone else. This was a very good video, with several great tips and tricks, and even some encouragement to not be concerned w onlookers and curious folks who aren’t afraid to approach and ask questions and satisfy their curiosities about what we are doing. Thank you both for being willing to share together!!

I loved both of them

I've always been afraid of drawing buildings, and watching your videos, I now understand why: I want to be too detailed, too "correct". Your videos are really helping me to loosen up!

I enjoyed this video so much! Been in a rut and have not been able to start a new watercolor sketch book. Just afraid to mess it up. Hearing you talk through your sketch really helped me to see that I need to bring my self-criticism down a few notches and just enjoy the process as you are. I think I’m going to crack open that new sketchbook and go for it!! (It’s terrible fighting perfectionism!!)

Two lovely sketches (and sketchers)! One of the things I love about urban sketching is that two people with pretty much the same view, come up with quite different compositions. Thanks for sharing 💜

That was absolutely fantastic to watch! The clock-face tip will definitely help me with the perspectives I've been battling with, and the comment about drawing confident lines will be taken to heart. I've only just started but I'm sure I'll be so much better after this guidance! Thank you!❣️

Fun to watch two sketchers interpret the scene. Enjoyed this as always  I enjoy meeting people when I"m out sketching too  they are always nice.

Lovely video sharing is so beneficial for everyone, clock face system is great. Thankyou both so much ❌❤️

The imagine the hands of a clock tip is really helpful, thank you!

I’ve just found your channel, you make it look so easy drawing straight lines! I remember going to this pub in 2023, to meet up with some friends who now live in Essex, who moved from North Yorkshire. We met for lunch there, and I was delivering a drawing of a dog that they’d commissioned me to do. We were staying in Suffolk, such a beautiful county, and had just been to see Willy Lott’s cottage. I’m watching your videos one by one ❤

LOVED this video!  One of my biggest issues when urban sketching  is what to draw. I always seem to chose too much and this video taught me to pick out my scene.  Thanks so very much for making that more clear.  I would love to see more of these types of videos.  Sending appreciation  from Connecticut, USA.

Great video and beautiful sketches done. I always find drawing angles very tricky so the clock face tip was a revelation and easy to apply to drawing. Wish I’d known that tip years ago!

I loved this tutorial, I found it very helpful. I am wanting to learn how and you did a great job on explaining it.  Texas, USA has a lot of outdoor so hopefully I will be able to create beautiful work. Excited to see more tutorials!

Best tutorial of urban sketching I’ve seen so far. You make it make sense! I’m going to give it a go 😊

Thank you so much for this.  Beyond simply making it more real for the viewers, your tips really help, especially seeing them applied in real time.  Really like the scene, too--you showed how even a "grotty" building can look good in a sketch!  Thanks again!

been trying to practice urban sketching and this was insanely helpful thank u
