10 years ago, i upgraded my sound system in my previous cars by myself, which was easy to install and dismantle, spend a lot of money upgrading one by one to the point i want "louder is better" motto. Now, driving a modern car with lots of sensors and steering wheel controls, i decided to seek a proffesional help to an experienced car audio installer, he recomended what brands that would suit my taste, and to be honest, he did a very good job and impressed me when i heard for the first time how clear and crisp the sound quality is. it goes to say money spent well. The car audio scene has improved a lot, and i am in awe nowthat amplifiers are now smaller and more compact than the once i used to know back then.

Great video that fully aligns with the philosophy of your channel - appreciating and keeping older cars on the road, longer.

I know people who change into newer cars just for the updated infotainment and sound system. They buy an entire new car to get some tech upgrades they could pay to install aftermarket for a fraction of the cost of a new car. It's nuts.

Good to see the culture being explained simply and giving people perhaps some excitement to hear their favourite songs the way they are meant to be heard while going for a cruise or down to Woolies.

I've been a car audio fanatic for 25+yrs and have spent house deposits on equipment over the years. And what old mate has said rings very true.

Great video. In 2010 when the Aussie $ was parity with the USD, I spent about $2500 on some car audio. A pioneer deh80-prs head unit, an alpine pdx-v9 amp, and 4 x 6.5 Polk audio MM series splits, with a pair of 500w rms 12” pioneer subs. Retail in oz was about $5000. Happy to say, the same system, minus the subs (single cab cab Ute theses days, so replaced with a pioneer 10” shallow sub), is in its third vehicle today, and still pumping 15 years later. Sometimes u definitely get what u pay for.
Also ur comments about subs are spot on. U don’t need to be a bogan, but u definitely need a sub, if u enjoy listening to music in ur car.

My previous car was a 2017 lancer sedan. The main thing I wanted was carplay. My audio guy pointed me in the path oif a pioneer headunit and installed it for me. At the same time, thanks to the unit having a built in amplifier, the sound quality of my speakers was significantly enhanced, they were so good that I skipped upgrading them and went straight to installing a subwoofer. Zero regrets, it was perfect and I only spent about 2k (parts and labour).

Now my current car, Swift Sport, has the same pioneer headunit (from factory) and is needing some bass. I'm probably going to go with the underseat subwoofer due to space.

More like this please! Takes me back to upgrading our shit boxes with aftermarket audio and LEDs in the early 00s. Wouldn't even know where to start on a new car. That rearview mirror was a bit spesh.

My family had a 1986 Toyota Corolla sedan with the standard radio. I decided to upgrade the stereo years ago, with a Kenwood single DIN CD player, 4" speaker in the front & 6" speakers in the rear parcel shelf, and it sounded awesome.

Brings to mind the issue of not being able to upgrade your screen with something new- may not be an issue now, but wait until 10 years when phones or head units no longer talk to each other.

3:00 you could also get single din ones like I have that has a button for a flip up screen for carplay, when closed it looks like a standard stereo but when opened it turns into an auto/carplay stereo.
