Just in time for Spinzilla 2018, Nancy gives tutorial on how to spin with the Long Draw method. This is one of the quickest ways to spin a large amount of yarn. Using this method will create a woolen spun yarn, which is a fluffy airy light weight yarn. Nancy is spinning on a Lendrum Original using hand blended rolags.

Thank you very much for the demo! I'm glad to know there's a name for what I've been doing this past year!!! I only draft about half the length so NO rotator cuff problems here. Thankfully!

Hooray someone demonstrating a proper long draw. If you ever get the chance to try a fibre in the raw with its lanolin it’s amazing how that facilitates the draw out once you have the twist in the yarn.

Longdraw is something I still have to try… I’ve already managed a bit here and there using a supported spindle but never tried it at my treadle wheel. For now, I’m sticking to spinning cobweb and frog hair singles in short forward draw…

Draw back so wheel does the drafting . Long backward draw works with the mechanics of the wheel . I think you are using the terms interchangably .

Do I have too many trust issues to long draw? I'd love to be able to do this, but I feel like if I tried it my fibre would just fall apart... and if it didn't, I'd have a lumpy, crazy string that would clog up my orifice.

You mentioned in another comment this is Corriedale, which the internet says has a fairly long (3.5-6") staple. That means I can theoretically do this with most fibres, right? (Some places I've looked at suggest that long draw is best reserved for shorter staple length fibres)

Pehaps it is best not to pull the fiber back so far behind the shoulder.

What kind of fiber are you using? How do you get rid of flubs using long draw?
Im a beginner and still have a lot of trouble with fat places on a wheel or drop spindle.

Also, is Woolen just the type of spinning where you let some twist in the yarn before finishing drafting? I think that's right.

And could you show some more about how you hold your hand with the fiber and are you pre-drafting?
And what's Spinzilla? Obviously sounds like a contest, but this is news to me! I think it'd be a good idea to post a linx in the description box.

Thank you for the video! Ive really been trying to find more on doing long draw so I can spin more quickly and there's not much info. ESPECIALLY about doing Long Draw on a drop spindle. Ive only found one or two video's on it and one of them the person wasnt even speaking, just a short two minute demo.
