With The Lord of Rings being one of the most celebrated film trilogies of all time, and The Hobbit trilogy being one that also exists, it was only natural that in this era of “everything must become a streaming show” we would get a LotR show. And here we are on season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - a show that exists.

So check out the pitch meeting that led to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, to find out how it all came together!

Absolutely cannot wait to NOT watch seasons 3 to 5 but immediately watch the Pitch Meetings as soon as they come out.

"So how did he survived the fatal stab?"
"By being fine the next time we see him."
Classic.

I always tell nurses in hospitals to ignore their patients.

The best way to survive a severe injury is being off screen.

Throughout the show it was incredible how flexible the non-important-characters were. Like when everyone wanted the Númenor lady dead and she was pushed into the sea, she then gets out and everyone instantly cheers for her to be a queen, until some random paper is brought that just mentions Sauron and now everyone immediately wants her dead again with absolutely NO explanation lol

My GOD did I make the right decision by not giving this a second chance. That Gandalf name thing alone would have made me punch through my screen...

My favorite part of the season was when Galadriel told Sauron “if you liked it, you should have put a ring on it”, then started twerking. Truly a moment of the show.

Probably the longest stretch of awkward silence from Screenwriter Guy since the time they had to get in touch with their British division while they were mid-pitch.

remember, they said the village was undefendable, so they went to the keep on the mountain via the only path which they said was very tiny, and then after the orcs find the empty village and decide to go up the tiny path, they decided that the town was in fact where they would make their stand, so they went down the only tiny path, passed those orcs that were looking for them, so they could make their stand in the village that they said they could not defend... people should have lost their careers, not because they didn't pay attention to the source material, but because they didn't even pay attention to their own previous episodes.

That "oh well" joke was great 😅

The plot hole of Sauron attacking a city while rings were being made which stops the rings being made so he has to make the rings to continue being made was so big that it could not be bridged by a "hey shut up".

" i don't care" is the most accurate description of the writing process for this show

Best part was when the rings were finally done and Celebrimbor said to Sauron "You really are the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season Two now."

Tolkien's spinning so fast in his grave, he could legally be classified as a particle accelerator.

"Slap our colons on people's favorite franchises" sums up everything.

I'm convinced that more thought is put into the structure of this story by Ryan than all of the writers of Rings of Power combined.

It just occurred to me that not only do we know the main characters aren't in any danger, we ALSO know that they're not going to accomplish anything!
The biggest thing this show can possibly build up to is Isildur defeating Sauron and keeping The Ring before dying in a random river. Which isn't exactly a big triumph for the show to hang its hat on.

Watching pitch meetings instead of mediocre tv is TIGHT

I can't believe it took less than 7 minutes to pitch an entire season to Amazon. Or, actually, that explains a lot.

"reveal how he got his name and accessories" may be the harshest indictment of . . . like 90% of movies and TV shows Ryan has done so far.

“Well, what if they had a bad day?!”

The whole exchange that followed is one of my favourites in all of Pitch Meeting. It explains so much about a lot of TV shows and movies. No stakes.
