as someone who lives in japan, idol culture is disturbing, one time i heard about an idol who went to her brothers birthday and was forced to resign for "violating her contract" which stated no personal contact with boys her own age

the fact that the  guy who owns the car with her face on it is one of the rare normal fans is absured to me

We literally just got a anime about Japans unhealthy obsession with idols

The idol industry and some fans are so f**king creepy 🤢

Parasocial relationships really do be some of the creepiest things to witness come about from the Internet.

Say it with me: Everybody needs to be shown episode 6 of Oshi no Ko as a parasocial prevention measure.

yeah, suspected that she was some kind of idol once I saw the title and saw they called her a liar. Like some other commentators have said, the idol culture and life style is a rather extreme one that isn't on the slightest one that forgives. It's either the "nomad haters" that will hate on idols from outside or the overly toxic fans (90% of the fanbase) themselves when they know something that wasn't revealed or anything

18:30 wow they really went "There is no 'no dating' rule in Ba sing se"

I didn’t expect Japan’s idol culture to seep into weather news…. I probably shouldn’t be surprised though

Your new cooking channel should be called Patz & Pans.

seeing people act this way removes the colors from my world

HELLO THIS IS HOW I FIGURED OUT PEOPLE SPECULATE ABOUT MAFUMAFU AND RUSHIA like this was the last place I thought I would’ve figured out LMAOOOOO

They say don't get caught but she went to a different country and still got caught?? Like what are you meant to do??

rushia's full lore goes crazy with this ..

Patterz telling us he loves fan art but is not getting as much, hold my tablet!

Whenever I think about awful parasocial incidents, my mind ALWAYS goes back to when I was following the Rushia incident live all the way back then. I don't watch VTubers but what happened to her was so terrible and should never have happened. I sincerely hope that one day things like this never happen again.

Also, "Idols can be in a relationship, but just hide it"? BRO! This coming from the same group of incels who caught her on holiday with her boyfriend IN THE UK!!! You can't hide ANYTHING anymore in this day and age! Especially, when people will actively stalk celebrities for dirt and gossip, but nooooo, just "hide it"! The actual gall of these people! 😡

This is why I love Oshi No Ko an anime that shows the dark parts of Idol culture

Ud be surprised how scary some of these obsessed ppl can be in japan

On the one hand, I think the backlash is ridiculous, but for the commenters telling these idols to go elsewhere that doesn't make sense either. The reason they're so successful in the first place is the overly obsessive culture that spends so much money and attention on their parasocial relationships ... so whether or not it's right their original success is only enabled by the fact that idol and otaku culture are really different in Japan as compared to how they are elsewhere. People love fake things and they are extremely obsessive. Obviously there's tons of involved downsides, but given that these industries couldn't exist or would be much less successful without this stuff going on it makes the situation more complicated. It shouldn't be a necessary evil, but at the same time, it has sort of become one for the higher ups, I'm sure.
