The Baguley Drewry Railcar bought last year is having its first formal function for the Rother Valley Railway. More on that later. The Railcar arrived at Junction Road on 30th September to carry the boards of the RVR and the K&ESR up the line, on separate dates, later in the week. Before doing so the railcar was tested as was the track. This is the arrival.

The History of AD9129
• The Manufacturer: It was constructed by Baguley-Drewry Ltd at their Shobnall Road works in Burton-on-Trent.
• The Military Era: Built during the 1970s for the Ministry of Defence (MOD), its official military designation is AD9129.
It was stationed at the massive, secure military logistics hub at MOD Bicester.
Because it was used on a secure base to shuffle small teams around a high-security environment,
it was exceptionally well looked after, kept under cover, and regularly serviced by military mechanics.
This is why the bodywork and mechanical elements remain in fantastic shape decades later.
