Such glorious days, I loved the 80's. Bring back the 80's.

Such strong memories of being with my mum and dad and being warm and dry and well fed and glued to the TV.
I so wish I could go back to those days.

1985 was a bad year for me due to the loss of a family member .can't look back with good memories

That year BBC1 changed its globe to an electronically generated one for the first time. Interesting that they still stuck to a mechanical model for the Christmas ident.

I was a young child in 1985 and when I see the BBC clock I can smell cigarette smoke. Different times.

Animate Charisma didn’t go quite right transitioning back to the weather map instead of the ident at the end.

I loved growing up in the 1980’s except for 1985 as my parents divorced…bloody awful Christmas and the worst year of my life😢

Thanks for this. I'd say it was nostalgia, but I think I'd have been way too young to remember any of this.
Also, this clip makes it look like Santa Claus: The Movie was one of Barry Norman's Films of the Year. LOL. Which I suspect was not the case (as fun and underrated as that movie is).

Isn't it strange watching the news. Natural disasters, stabbings, war, flooding in the UK. Is this news from 1985 or 2025?
