The Normandy campaign depended on far more than combat power—it required a supply network capable of moving ammunition, fuel, vehicles, and food from ships in the English Channel to armies racing across France. This documentary follows that system from Liberty ships and DUKW amphibious trucks at Omaha Beach through dispersed supply dumps, one-way traffic routes, the destruction of Mulberry A in the June 1944 storm, improvised over-the-shore unloading, and finally the Red Ball Express created after Operation Cobra stretched American supply lines hundreds of miles inland. It reveals how redundancy, engineering, transportation units, military police, mechanics, and exhausted truck drivers kept U.S. forces supplied even as ports, roads, railways, vehicles, and men were pushed toward their limits.
