to me, listening to them do an interview by someone that asks interesting and thoughtful questions is "almost" as entertaining as listening to their songs. Two completely different things, but both extremely fun to watch and listen to.
The presence of U.S. popular culture throughout the world in general, and Mexico in particular, is endemic. Thus, aside from being bilingual, these sisters are bi-cultural and view their reality through that bi-culturalism. With respect to their bilingualism, it is impressive how fluent they are, given that they don't live in an English-only environment.
Thanks Dave, this entire interview with Zach is one of the best ever. He asks great questions, the Sisters feel right at home with him, hence Ale speaking up a lot, she needs to be comfortable. Have watched the entire interview a couple times simply because listening to the Sisters open up and feel at home creates a great environment for them to be themselves. BTW, their English is way better than mine and I grew up in the US...their brains are different than ours I think.
It’s pretty interesting to see them off the stage and compare their personas on the stage. It’s like they have alter egos. They look so girly off stage and are just some great badasses on stage.
I have been to three live The Warning live concerts just this year. I also met them at an album signing a few weeks ago. Besides being top tier musicians on stage, the are so kind and humble in person. ❤❤❤
Their vocabulary is amazing. Pau had to call out Anton Debase when writing Sick because he didn't think debase was an actual word. He was wrong, Pau also uses palpable in Disciple. How about psychosomatic love?
this interview was great. The two Spanish songs you did not mention were Narcista, a standalone single they released in 2019 and Que mas quieres from Keep me fed - for which they wre nominated for a latin grammy
I like how she says screaming in Spanish is something i have never done before, and I'm sure all of us who've watched their lives and personal videos, and the few who have hung out with them, have heard Pau scream in Spanish plenty of times... but of course here she's referring to screaming in a song lol
Ale just started to wear glasses in public. All three of them wear glasses. I think Pau has the strongest prescription. I recall Ale trying on Pau's glasses and making a comment about it. They wear contact lenses. I know from my daughters wearing contacts that sometimes you need to give your eyes a rest, so maybe that's why Ale is wearing glasses more often lately.
The Warning asked fans to record the song. They played it twice in a row specifically for this.
This is the notice the ladies posted on their social media pages before the Seoul concert:
SEOUL
INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING FOR THE MUSIC VIDEO DURING THE SHOW?
AUGUST 12TH YES24 LIVE HALL
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Have a ticket for the show 2. Speak fluent English or Spanish 3. Have a phone with a 4K camera 4. Must be available at the venue at 2 PM
I chatted with one of the guys who was selected. He was instructed to keep his camera focused on Pau, while other volunteers were assigned different areas of the stage or told to focus on Dany, Ale, and the crowd. They then played the song twice to capture the footage they needed. The rest is video editing magic. 😁🤘
The ladies all need wearing glasses or lenses. They often wear sun glasses but they rarely wear clear glasses alltogether. Pau once said, she is «literally blind» without sight correction. Of course, she exaggerated a bit.
Yea Ale rocks glasses well, of course. She and Dany wear glasses at home etc.
Pau has very poor eyesight and is always in glasses or contacts... there are a couple lives they did, still somewhere on YouTube, years ago related to the Error album... where pau was squinting at stuff trying to see what it is and just can't, admitted then that she's basically blind without glasses.
Soy un completo y convencido seguidor de The Warning, pero habiendo dicho eso, estoy totalmete convencido tambien que, Martirio es la mejor cancion de hard rock en español que existe hoy, no solo de ellas, en la historia.
I love that they haven't relocated because they know Monterrey is the best city in Mexico. I’ve been all over the country, and Monterrey and its people are the best...sorry to the rest of Mexico!
Thanks, Dave. Nice reaction and comments. Being truly bilingual (having two languages be completely equivalent to you) seems extremely difficult. Perhaps for someone whose native language is different from that of the country where they spend a lot of time, the transition between the two languages is smoother, but in the case of the Villarreal sisters, it's complicated because they continue to live where they were born, and when they travel, those who accompany them also speak Spanish as their native language.
By the way, have you heard the saying that the curses or insults you truly feel are those in your native language?
