I watched a documentary on Galento. He didnt train. He smoked and drank like it was a training regimen. He was a tough SOB and likely had a 12 pack before the bout along with a pack of Luckys plus a cheap cigar to cover the beer smell. He was a Brawler that could knock you out if you didnt move as he lunged in. He was no boxer. He was a mauler and a brawler. A bar room slugger who made a living getting used as a heavy bag with arms. He got a shot at the title but lost just like in this fight. Rocky Marciano beat him like a red headed step child.

How Galento got the "Two Ton" prefixed to his name -

Dang, 'two-ton Tony looked gassed, but hung in there! Where did they find THAT guy? Looked like he just walked out of a Sbarro buffet. 😱 But ya never know. Ya can't always judge a book by its cover. But...Tyson knocked out Bruno. So there's that. Height and muscle don't dictate victory in boxing.
When Ali came in with his footwork, speed and defense it was like a paradigm shift in boxing in those early days.
