Hey there everybody—Eric from Outer Limitless here.
For most people, Golden, Colorado is synonymous with Coors Brewing.
For knife enthusiasts, however, Golden is home to something just as legendary—Spyderco.
Visiting Spyderco's headquarters and museum was a full-circle experience for me. My first serious pocket knife was a partially serrated Spyderco Endura back in the 1990s, and that knife helped shape my appreciation for quality everyday carry knives. Walking through Spyderco's history, meeting members of their team, and then having the opportunity to choose nearly any knife from their lineup made this visit one I'll never forget.
Out of everything available...
This is the knife I chose.
The Spyderco Manix 2 MagnaMax.
This isn't simply another knife review. It's a look at one of Spyderco's most respected American-made platforms paired with one of the newest premium stainless steels to hit the knife industry.
We discuss the Manix 2 platform, ergonomics, the Ball Bearing Lock, peel-ply G-10 scales, full-flat grind geometry, washer action, real-world carry characteristics, and why this knife immediately stood out from everything else in the showroom.
Then we dive into MagnaMax.
Rather than replacing MagnaCut, MagnaMax shifts priorities toward exceptional wear resistance and long-term edge retention while maintaining stainless performance. It represents another tool in Spyderco's lineup—not necessarily a replacement, but a different solution for users who prioritize cutting performance over maximum toughness.
More importantly...
This video is really about why I chose this knife after standing in front of nearly every Spyderco they manufacture.
Sometimes a knife is more than steel and specifications.
Sometimes it tells a story.
